Bush Administration Wants You To Carry Guns In National Parks

For the first time since the Great Depression the Secretary of the Interior is making news with a proposal. The Secretary, whose name is... let's ask Google... Kempthorne, Dirk Kempthorne, "proposed new regulations Wednesday that would allow people to carry a concealed weapon in some national parks and wildlife refuges." Someone has been stealing Kempthorne's pic-a-nic baskets recently, and he is Bitter and Clinging To Guns? Or maybe he's just going through a terrible divorce/lobotomy.

The proposal would overturn a 25-year-old regulation that has restricted loaded guns in national parks and wildlife refuges. The regulations require that guns be unloaded and placed somewhere that is not easily accessible, such as in a car trunk.

"The safety and protection of park and refuge visitors remains a top priority for the Department of the Interior," Kempthorne said in a statement.

What, like a MOUNTAIN LION COUGAR would jump out of Old Faithful and bite your face off? That could happen. Another thing that could happen: You're out camping in a national park, drunk, and then you go around shooting people to death and burying their steaming carcasses underneath the world's tallest redwood.
