Bush Likes a Pretty Face
The President is known as an affectionate man. Compassionate conservatism, his constant exhortation to "tell a shut-in you love them," whatever. But we had never figured him for a homo. (Though it would explain a lot.) The Globe and Mail reports that he made a pass at the Canadian prime minister's senior advisor, Scott Reid. During a lull in the otherwise thrilling Monterrey summit, Bush chatted up Reid:
"Well, you got a pretty face," he told the surprised Mr. Reid. He wasn't done. "You got a pretty face," he said again. "You're a good-looking guy. Better looking than my Scott anyway."
There are, of course, other ways to explain this
rather remarkable thawing (to the point of hot, really) in U.S.-Canadian relations. One: He was trying to distract the Canadians, giving himself time to remember where Canada is. Two: Reid really is prettier than Scott McClellan. It's entirely possible.
