Conservatives Urge Biden To Cancel Impeachment Out Of Respect For Wee Feefees Of Armed Insurgents

As conservative media demands that Joe Biden heal the country by forcing Congress to drop its impeachment push, the armed loons continue their plans to overthrow democracy. HuffPost reports that Capitol Police briefed House Democrats yesterday on the continuing danger from Trump supporters hellbent on stopping the inauguration, including a plot to surround Congress and shoot all the Democrats so Republicans can take over.

These people are out of their bloody minds, and all Fox cares about are the sad hearts of the 74 million Trump voters, who are having a really hard time right now and are just going to need us all to give them a little time to work through it.

"The FBI received information about an identified armed group intending to travel to Washington, DC on 16 January," read the bulletin which was first reported by ABC. "They have warned that if Congress attempts to remove POTUS via the 25th Amendment, a huge uprising will occur."

Which is YEAH, NO SHIT.

"Come armed at your personal discretion," reads this flier floating around in the wingnutosphere where the lunatic fringe has been openly plotting to continue their fight to overturn the election.

No wonder the tech companies raced to shut that shit down last week — they don't want to be accused of allowing their platforms to be used to plan an insurrection twice in the same month.

Oh, hey, remember when Trump warned us that BLM would take over the streets "in Joe Biden's America"?

HuffPo says that members were briefed on multiple planned demonstrations, including a protest in honor of Ashli Babbitt, the woman shot while trying to breach the Speaker's Lobby, and another which "would involve insurrectionists forming a perimeter around the Capitol, the White House and the Supreme Court, and then blocking Democrats from entering the Capitol ― perhaps even killing them ― so that Republicans could take control of the government."

Democrats were told that the Capitol Police and the National Guard were preparing for potentially tens of thousands of armed protesters coming to Washington and were establishing rules of engagement for warfare. In general, the military and police don't plan to shoot anyone until one of the rioters fires, but there could be exceptions.

Lawmakers were told that the plot to encircle the Capitol also included plans to surround the White House ― so that no one could harm Trump ― and the Supreme Court, simply to shut down the courts. The plan to surround the Capitol includes assassinating Democrats as well as Republicans who didn't support Trump's effort to overturn the election ― and allowing other Republicans to enter the building and control government.

Democratic lawmakers on the call were even worried about their own Republican congressional colleagues, some of whom fomented the very violence that led to the attack on the Capitol last week. What about "all these members who were in league with the insurrectionists who love to carry their guns," one wondered. "You can't just let them bypass security and walk right up to Biden and Harris at inauguration."

And while the Defense Department has flooded DC with troops in preparation for the inauguration and planned "Million Militia March" protest of it, the presence of military and law enforcement members among the Capitol insurrectionists has DC spooked about a potential fifth column of violent Trump sympathizers in government ranks.

The New York Times notes that, "Defense Department officials have expressed concern that some of the protesters who stormed the Capitol are former military members. While the department has not announced a specific search for deployed National Guard troops with sympathies for the pro-Trump protesters, officials said they were reviewing photographs and videos from the protests."

Meanwhile over at the Wall Street Journal, the editorial page is laying the responsibility for this whole mess on the incoming president. "This is a moment for Joe Biden to establish his leadership by calling off the House impeachers in service of his vow that this is a 'time to heal,'" they tut-tut, demanding that he be a real man and take Speaker Pelosi in hand. "One worry about the President-elect is whether he is strong enough to lead his party or will instead be led by the progressives on Capitol Hill." Subtle!

And over at Fox, Brian Kilmeade is outraged that Democrats would further enrage the insurrectionists by proceeding with impeachment. Here he is using the well known abusers' logic of "Daddy wouldn't hit Mommy if Mommy didn't make Daddy so mad."

Because apparently Americans do negotiate with terrorists. Or at least the brave patriots in Murdochland do, anyway.
