Dumb Pennsylvania Democrat Doesn't Even Know She Is Supposed To Run Screaming From Obamacare
Here's how "cray-cray" the "conventional wisdom" has "gotten" for the 2014 midterms: according to our pals at Talking Points Memo, it's apparently really bold and out-there that Pennsylvania Rep. Allyson Schwartz is actually running on Obamacare instead of away from it. In this ad, Schwartz, who's seeking the Democratic nomination for governor, says she's proud of having to helped write the Affordable Care Act, and takes incumbent Gov. Tom Corbett to task for his failure to expand Medicaid in the state. She even promises to push for Medicaid expansion if she's elected. What kind of weird advertisement is this, anyway? It doesn't feature even a single bit of footage of Schwartz shooting or cutting the balls off of anything. Freaking weirdo.
Says Schwartz of her support for the ACA,
"It's something I'm proud of because it also closed the gap in prescription drug coverage for seniors ... Tom Corbett has decided not to take the Medicaid money. As governor I will take the Medicaid expansion because 500,000 Pennsylvanians need health coverage. It's exactly the kind of leadership I will bring as your next governor."
Is this sort of madness even allowed? Schwartz's campaign is even urging other Democrats to take the plunge and run on Obamacare, claiming that the water is fine, when anyone knows, as this piece from Mediaite says, that at least one Democrat has warned that the worst news about the ACA is about to "hit the fan," when things like the employer mandate kick in, or the tax on "Cadillac" insurance plans paid by employers, which very smart writer Noah Rothman says will be exactly like the "liberal strategy of accusing those Republican-led states that refused to expand Medicaid of murder," because someone having to pay taxes on their top-of-the-line insurance really is exactly the same as someone dying for lack of insurance.
So you have to admire Schwartz's brave if foolish approach of suggesting that more people having health insurance is somehow a good thing -- it's one of those wacky ideas that my just be crazy enough to work!
