Happy Monday! Watch Your Damn White House Press Briefing!
Oh hey, it is Monday, and that means it's time for another White House press briefing.
Jen Psaki will be briefing, per the White House, along with Co-Chair of the Gender Policy Council and Chief of Staff to the First Lady Julissa Reynoso, and Co-Chair and Executive Director of the Gender Policy Council Jennifer Klein.
Wait, gender policy council? Does this have something to do with Mr. Potato Head? No! It's that the president has established a Gender Policy Council at the White House. NPR explains that Biden's executive order creating the council "reformulat[es] an office from the Obama administration that was later disbanded by the Trump administration, and giv[es] it more clout." It's what used to be known as the White House Council on Women and Girls.
The name change to the Gender Policy Council is intentional, according to an administration official speaking on background, "to reflect the fact that gender discrimination can happen to people of all genders."
