Journalism Dean Says News Too Newsy
What's the matter with journalism today? "Scoop-mania," says Nicholas Lemann, Columbia University journalism dean. Apparently, the desire to break stories that no one else has gotten to yet is now considered bad form amongst the media elite. Over at Attytood.com, Will Bunch takes issue with this notion, which, we admit, seems roughly akin to an undertaker saying dead bodies are ruining the funeral business. Still, we're siding with Lemann on this one. We say leave the scoops to the PR people, and let us concentrate on the bias.— GREG BEATO
