Kansas Might Not Have Any Schools For Trans Folks To Terrorize This Fall, LOL WHOOPS

Jesus calls Kansas stupid a lot.
If you are reading this on Wednesday, then it is sine die in the esteemed Republican-led Kansas legislature. Sine die is a Latin term that Kansas Republicans can't translate means it's the last day of this year's legislative session. And what are those fine folks up to? Not funding schools!
On Wednesday, the Kansas legislative session will wrap up in Topeka likely without a resolution for school funding. On Friday, the courts ruled that the revised school funding formula was still not equitable and maintained that schools will shut down if the disparities are not resolved by June 30.
And what are those pathetic cockwhistles actually doing this fine Wednesday?
The Kansas Senate is considering a resolution condemning a recent Obama administration decree that public schools allow transgender students to use the restrooms that match their gender identity, not their sex at birth.
Yay! A nonbinding resolution, just to get it ON THE RECORD that Kansas Republicans think transgender kids are EW GROSS and want them to stop doing golden showers to OUR WIVES AND DAUGHTERS in school bathrooms. (They are not doing that, but conservatives like to imagine they are.)
Kansas Republican Senate President Susan Wagle has her bigoted priorities in order, yes sirree:
Kansas students will have a lot of privacy if they all have to pee at home while they're being Not Educated At School, because Kansas Republicans like Susan Wagle are paste-eating dumbfucks.

The trans-hatin' resolution would ask Kansas's attorney general to join up with all those other states suing Obama's Justice Department for having the audacity to direct schools not to discriminate against trans kids.
[wonkbar][/wonkbar]But back to this school funding thing, like THAT even matters. The dealio is that the state supreme court ruled Friday that Kansas must fund its public schools in an equitable manner.
The court has been kicking the Kansas legislature in the nuts over this for a long time now, actually! Way back in 2014, the court said, "Hey you idiots in the lege, you can't just give the rich school districts all the money and leave crumbs for the poor districts," because that is not constitutional.
And as the New York Times explains, the court and the legislature have been fighting ever since:
In February, the court said that a solution proposed by lawmakers, to use block grants to allocate funds, had failed to address inequities in schools. In response, the Legislature passed a bill that it said gave poorer districts a fair share of funding. Gov. Sam Brownback, a Republican, signed the measure in April.
In a 47-page ruling, the court rejected that bill, saying the Legislature’s formula “creates intolerable, and simply unfair, wealth-based disparities among the districts.”
In other words, NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
[wonkbar][/wonkbar]But this is totally unfair, because Republicans in Kansas, led by shitheel Gov. Brownback, do not like to fund schools. Why, back in February when the legislature was passing its latest bullshit solution to the problem, Brownback was also announcing his own plans to cut $45 million from public school funding.
[wonkbar][/wonkbar]And how can you possibly ask them to fund schools anyway, when Brownback's tax cuts have bankrupted the state so? Brownback says that if the mean state supreme court gets its way with this latest ruling, he'll probably have to do some more slice-and-dice with Medicaid and higher education. Because there's just not any money! OOPSIE! It's almost like Brownback's trickle-down-go-fuck-yourself policies don't actually work.
Oh well, it won't be the first time Kansas schools have had to shut down because they ain't had no money.
[wonkbar][/wonkbar]But maybe the legislature will fix it! Maybe Kansas Republicans can hold a special session later this month, in advance of the June 30 deadline, once they've wasted their whole sine die bitching their skidmarked panties off about trans kids. Maybe they can suddenly find all the money they need by raising more taxes on the poor! Maybe they can cut welfare benefits some more!
Or maybe Republicans could sit the fuck down and actually do their jobs for once in their pitiful political careers, hahaha just kidding. Wouldn't want them have to actually work or anything, not when transgender KIDS are out there doing pees and poops RIGHT NOW, IN KANSAS, HIDE YOUR WIVES, HIDE YOUR DAUGHTERS!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!
