NYPD Cops So Sad At Mayor De Blasio They Just Can't Fight Crime Anymore
It's a great week to jaywalk or jump turnstiles in New York City, as cops have pretty much decided to stop being cops at all until Mayor Bill de Blasio disowns his black son or at least makes him personally thank every police on the force for keeping him safe. Following the murder of two officers by a suicidal man who was not, we must note, the Mayor of New York, police have turned their backs not only on Bill de Blasio, but also on doing their jobs. The New York Post reports that "traffic tickets and summonses for minor offenses have dropped off by a staggering 94 percent" since the murders.
Remember, Bill de Blasio was personally responsible for those killings because he sympathized with black people and allowed protest marches following a grand jury's decision not to indict the cop who choked Eric Garner to death. If you don't support killer cops, you don't support any cops, and so they'll just stop enforcing any laws at all, see how you like that, you criminal-coddler.
Some details on the Cop-Out:
Angry union leaders have ordered drastic measures for their members since the Dec. 20 assassination of two NYPD cops in a patrol car, including that two units respond to every call.
It has helped contribute to a nose dive in low-level policing, with overall arrests down 66 percent for the week starting Dec. 22 compared with the same period in 2013, stats show.
Citations for traffic violations fell by 94 percent, from 10,069 to 587, during that time frame.
Summonses for low-level offenses like public drinking and urination also plunged 94 percent -- from 4,831 to 300.
Even parking violations are way down, dropping by 92 percent, from 14,699 to 1,241.
Drug arrests by cops assigned to the NYPD’s Organized Crime Control Bureau -- which are part of the overall number -- dropped by 84 percent, from 382 to 63.
That oughta learn the mayor about how democracy works: if elected officials don't publicly make a show of saying that cops are perfect and never wrong, the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association will show those arrogant bastards who really runs the city. Benevolently.
It also doesn't help that de Blasio inherited a police force that has been working without a contract since 2010, because former mayor Michael Bloomberg refused to negotiate a new contract. But only a very cynical person would suggest that the current theatrics police have aimed at de Blasio are related to anything but his deadly insults to the force's honor.
De Blasio has scheduled an emergency meeting today with police union representatives. We're pretty sure they'll work everything out once they sit down together and recognize that they all have an interest in calming tensions and coming together for the good of the people of New York. Until then, sounds like paradise.
