As you may have heard by now, Adam West, TV's Batman (also the best Batman), died Friday night in Los Angeles at the age of 88 after a short battle with leukemia.
West died peacefully surrounded by his family and is survived by his wife Marcelle, six children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
“Our dad always saw himself as The Bright Knight and aspired to make a positive impact on his fans' lives. He was and always will be our hero,” his family said in a statement.
After struggling for years without a steady job, the good-natured actor reached a new level of fame when he accepted an offer to voice the mayor of Quahog — named Adam West; how’s that for a coincidence! — on Seth MacFarlane’s long-running Fox animated hit Family Guy.
Let us celebrate his life by doing the Batusi one more time:
And with some of our favorite Batman GIFS.
And long for the days when an eccentric rich white dude might try to save the world instead of destroying it. ALAS. Goodnight, sweet prince.

I agree. I loved James Woods in Videodrome, The Killer, Citizen Cohn, and probably more if I took time to think about it. That he's been an asshole since 'round the time he played Giuliani is not my fault, and I'm not going to punish myself by boycotting those memories. I love Chinatown, too.
He left for grad school in Berkeley in 1966. I think they met in '67 or '68 when she was a reporter for Pacifica and he was the sound engineer who recorded her. Back then, she'd often preface what she was talking about with "I'm not a lawyer, but ... " because she was an historian. Of course, she went to law school once they started living together. Had their first son in 1971. Carol was an amazing woman, and Don is truly suffering without her. Thank you for sending him positive energy; he needs it.
