I too work in the field. 40 years. Patients (clients) are different from family. I helped my ex-mother in law get my psychotic ex-wife into the hospital years ago on an Emergency Detention Warrant. After she was hospitalized I detached. But not until she was out of danger.

You have to protect yourself and your own mental health first or you can't help a loved one with a mental illness. This often means taking a break.
And, unless his brother is actively a threat to himself or others, the Baker Act is inappropriate.
