10 Dead In Santa Fe School Shooting, But Don't Worry, The Guns Are Safe
This kid has "dead eyes"
More innocent people died today at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas, but no worries, the murder weapons are completely unharmed. Students say a young man in a “Born to Kill” shirt and a trench coat opened fire on them, and the latest reports have at least nine students killed along with a teacher. After the horrific Parkland shooting in Florida, it seemed like everyone had grand idea on how to solve this deadly dilemma of students going to school and murdering their peers, but unfortunately, it seems that it was all talk. Some students at Santa Fe High School identified so strongly with the Parkland kids that they participated in the walkout in April. Sadly, what they feared most came to fruition.

Located in Galveston County, about 40 miles south of Houston, Santa Fe High School was reportedly having a fire drill -- we are not sure if the shooter pulled the alarm yet or if it really was a fire drill -- when students and faculty heard gunshots. What followed has been described to the Houston Chronicle as a “bloody mess” and the local community is understandably horrified. Along with identifying the killer today, the police are also questioning a “person of interest.”
The Galveston sheriff has confirmed Dimitrios Pagourtzis, 17 , is the suspect in this case, and his family has asked for callers to “Give us our time right now, thank you.” We wish it were as easy to give the lives back to the murder victims as it is to respect the family of the killer. But that is impossible, so best believe we will not be giving them much time before we demand answers.
Dimitrios doesn’t seem like the typical school shooter; when he was in ninth grade, he was on the defensive line of football team and even was featured on the school website. This is not an invisible kid who was always ignored by his peers, although they report that he was “quiet.” Well, he has been quietly booked into the Galveston County Jail on Capital Murder charges.
What was a kid like this doing wearing a trench coat in 80 degree weather in Santa Fe, Texas (no, not the much larger capital of New Mexico), and shooting up his peers? Perhaps access to guns has plenty to do with how a child like this finds himself able to kill so many people in such a short time. Also, looking at his instagram shows that he may have been a bit overly interested in weapons.

The signs were there. The guns were there.
We learned that he was able to bring in multiple weapons to his school -- a shotgun, a 38 caliber handgun, and an assault weapon -- and ATF agents also found what appears to be pipe bombs or some type of explosive both on and off campus. This is the 22nd school shooting this year.
Along with the 10 deaths, there are 10 wounded, Gov. Greg Abbott confirmed in his press conference . At the press conference, it was revealed that Pagourtzis wanted to commit suicide, but did not, and he turned himself over to the custody of authorities without any violence. Let’s just ignore the fact that if he were a black teen with a Swisher Sweet, he may not have been allowed to turn himself over, because black kids get killed for far less than killing 10 people. We also learned from the press conference that the murder weapons were owned by Pagourtzis’s father, and officials are unsure if the father was aware that the boy had possession of them. We want to know why the fuck the guns were not locked away from his child, who in addition to showing Nazi paraphernalia off on Instagram, was also ... a child.
Donald Trump gave a statement , and it is truly shallow:
Unfortunately, I have to begin by expressing our sadness and heartbreak over the deadly shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas that took place moments ago. We’re closely monitoring the situation and federal authorities are coordinating with local officials. This has been going on too long in our country. Too many years, too many decades now.
We grieve for the terrible loss of life and send our support and love to everyone affected by this absolutely horrific attack to the students, families, teachers and personnel at Santa Fe High. We’re with you in this tragic hour, and we will be with you forever.
My administration is determined to do everything in our power to protect our students, secure our schools, and keep weapons out of the hands of those who pose a threat to themselves and to others. Everyone must work together at every level of government to keep our children safe. May God heal the injured and may God comfort the wounded, and may God be with the victims and with the victims’ families. A very sad day, very, very sad.
It might just be better if he said nothing. Sad.
All of the empty words and stupid shit people say every single time this happens have pretty much become a template of pointless bullshitting and it is quite obvious and noticeable. Fuck your “thoughts and prayers” every few weeks when the same shit happens to a different bunch of innocent children, while we watch you assholes just run back and pander to the NRA the very next week and genuflect like some punk bitches. Cameron Kasky seems to agree; he slammed the NRA today because he is sure they will soon drag their gun loving, child hating carcasses out to brag about how many donations they will rake in off of this tragedy. We are sure they will too.
In the meantime, since their last attempt at a panacea -- armed guards -- has failed, Texas's lieutenant governor, Dan Patrick, has decided to change the subject to doors.
#Doorsense. #Doorcontrolnow. #Gunsdontkillpeopledoorskillpeople. #Alsofuckyou.
And on that fucked up note, it is now your sad open thread.
