So the cyber/ugly/truck is no good for blowing up a building, but exquisite for self immolation, good to know.

So, will Tangerini declare martial law on day one, or day two? It all seems rather convenient...

Somewhere in the darkest corners of Wingnutistan there are people working out a detailed, oh so plausible scenario in which this is a false flag operation by the FBI and Deep State. Don't worry, Ka$h will get to the bottom of this because Trump will let him knock some heads his first day on the job, or somesuch. It may be out there already.

maybe EVs turn people into killers, ever think of that?

Not until just now but, yeah, could be on Elon's agenda, I guess.

Elno is stating that the ciburstruck construction was advantageous to averting a more damaging explosion to the building. I would need to have it explained why or how a standard steel unibody pick-up bed with a bed cover would have performed any differently than the cyber truck during the explosion. The explosion's path of least resistance would be to blow off the non-structural pick-up bed cover (which happened with the ciburstruck) and the bulk of the firework's initial, relatively low-mass energy would be directed up and not through the stronger metal pick-up bed sides in either case. I understand and can see that the stainless steel appears to be more resistant to melting in the fire after the explosion, but it's not clear to me that the ciburstruck structure made any difference in the initial explosion compared to a standard pick-up.

I find it amazing how many men (it's always men) think suicide by cop turns them into heroes.

We know the cyber truck has bombed but this is taking it way too literally.

And...won't this give even more fuel to the anti-EV crowd? (SWIDT?)

The same climate-change-denying faction that wants to spur us back toward ever more fossil fuel consumption and dependence, further enriching oil billionaires?

So much of this doesn't add up. Suspect died by gunshot wound "prior to" explosion. A conspiracy theorist (which I am not) might say that the gunshot wound to the head occurred WELL prior to the explosion, and that a corpse (remember, this is a conspiracy theorist saying this shit, not me, come on) was placed in the driver's seat of a fully automated robot on wheels, and that the "bomb" was deliberately constructed NOT to caused damage (you know how wacky those conspiracy theorists get), but rather to send a reminder from Daddy Putin to President Musk and VP Trump that they owe him. Some bullshit these conspiracy theorists come up with, eh?

a much more likely explanation is that this will be leveraged in order to declare martial law on day one.

Listened to right wing radio this AM. They played a clip of Biden and then said Biden was soooo eager to keep pointing out these guys were US citizens... because of all the illegals he's brought over the border in the last four years.

It was a remarkably unsubtle segue that probably resonated well with his audience.

In one Tesla that I saw, the rod that pushes up the door lock button is NYLON, so when things get hots, the nylon gets soft. Pull that handle as many times as you want...you're not gonna make it. Also, at one time it was stated that the truck windows were fracture-proof. I guess you can't kick out a window like that.

so... this is a car for people who want to feel safe for the people outside, not the ones who want to survive a crash and get out before they burn/explode? does your name have to be changes to "Sid" if you buy one? Yeesh!

My parents were in a car accident several years ago. In the process the battery was damaged and stopped working. They had trouble getting out because the electric locks on the doors would no longer open. A quick look on Google indicates a dead battery often leads to electric door locks not opening on modern cars.

Expand full comment
GrannysKnitting's avatar

I hope your parents are ok, but there should be some sensor that says 'we had an accident, unlock all the doors' regardless of if the battery is working or not - if a seat belt operates mechanically and can save your life in an electric vehicle, then the 'don't lock the doors in an accident' switch should also be mechanical....
