Back before the election, a conspiracy emerged on the internets involving John Podesta, a pizza restaurant, a handkerchief and a supposed pedophile ring. A conspiracy we now know as PIZZAGATE. That conspiracy was created and spread by denizens of 4chan's /pol/ message board as part of a campaign to "meme" Donald Trump into the presidency. Back before that, they engineered the absurd conspiracy known as "Gamergate," an elaborate conspiracy involving pretending that their fears of women stealing their video games was somehow an assault on "ethics in games journalism."
I don't think so. I mean a slasher movie is OK mindless entertainment. Something to watch for for two hours. An escape even, like most movies are. The fear from a movie is transient and you know it's not real. It's something to make you jump maybe, or scream at the idiots on screen to not go in the basement.
When you walk out of the theater, or stop the movie at home, it's over. These people live in constant fear and paranoia. To extend the metaphor, at best they don't know the movie isn't real. At worst they hope it is real so the world is a dark and shitty as they think it is.
In other words, at best some of them pass on the CT for the same reason some people pass on urban legends. At best hey just don't know any better. It sounds somewhat plausible to them and they are either to lazy to look up the info or trust whoever told them. (With a CT, any independent research is going to be hampered by not trusting any sources that disagree with the stated point of view.) At worst they are deliberatly and knowingly making the world a darker place when they start the CT in the first place.
Remember, if you live in America, you live in a country that locked up daycare workers for decades and incidentally ruined I don;t know how many lives due to the Satanic Panic in the '80's. With no physical evidence and no witness testimony other than now debunked recovered memories people went to jail for decades for ritually abusing and murdering children in the basements of day care centers because the people who convicted them wanted to believe the world is that dark of a place. Pizzagate is just one more chapter in the same old book.
This makes sense to me, but I'm not sure I'm getting my point across correctly.
Okay, but seriously do stay on your toes though. We need a glimmering ray of hope to cut through the nationalistic xenophobic shitmist that is world politics.
Macron won't do that. His policies will help the rich get richer while the poor are left in the shit and thus will only stoke even more resentment against the reign of investors. Which unfortunately will be deflected by the capitalist media towards the usual scapegoats and scarecrows.
4chan was never good. But I think rather than trying to shut down every source of misinformation, we should be educating people not to believe every picture with text over it that they see.
No matter how many times I see that picture, it never fails to be creepy as all get out. If my ex husband ever posed for a photo like that with one of my daughters, I'd rip his balls off.
I hate the wingers so much.
Illicit, not elicit. Sorry, Robyn, but I did 39.5 hours of temp financial proofreading in four days this past week, and now you have to fix it.
The "dumber than dirtcrap" article from the winger Website Zippy noted below was debunked by Snopes (that liberal biased site that cites facts).

The idea that Trey Gowdy is in "protective custody" is false anyway, since he made a public appearance at a college in South Carolina yesterday.

Even though this meme war is fake, France will still find a way to surrender.
The sex probably comes after the real estate and golf.
She won't win so it's academic but as a matter of fact she is way smarter than the Donald. Mind you, so is a leaf of lettuce.
None of us thought The Evil One stood a chance in hell either - until he won. Keep on your toes.
He didn't trail by 25 points in the polls.

Sorry to disappoint you there. The real story will be the parliamentary elections next month, always was, and they're not looking so good.
The French are only marginally smarter than Americans. So there's a good chance this will work. Scary.

Irony usually doesn't age well
