One of the hare-brained schemes to end slavery before the Civil War was basically to remove the slaves to a colony in the Caribbean or back in Africa. This was seriously considered because white people North and South didn&#039;t want freed black people living here. But it didn&#039;t work out because the black people who were here as SLAVES, didn&#039;t want to leave. They viewed America as their home. Yesterday some of the faith their ancestors had in America as an idea and a place was fulfilled for another four years. The arc of history bent a little more toward justice yesterday.
