China’s CO2 emissions have fallen for the last year & a half in large part to their adding 333 Giga Watts of solar power. Too bad we didn’t do the same. P.S. one giga watt can power around 750 thousand American homes a year! 333 GW = 250 million homes! Trump canceled what Biden started for his love of money!

Welcome to the land of CLE... You can usually tell the nubes from the old hands during the initial snows, but if there is Ice, all bets are off. ... And Bad Tires - if you see a late model sliding, give double clearance.

"In fact, one such lawsuit, brought by the Danish wind energy company Ørsted, has already successfully lifted the administration’s stop-work order on a giant wind farm off the coast of Rhode Island. When it’s completed next year, the 704-megawatt Revolution Wind project, initially approved in 2023, will bring carbon-free electricity to more than 350,000 homes in Rhode Island and Connecticut. But in August, the administration ordered a halt to construction, even though Revolution Wind was more than 80 percent complete, claiming that the plant was somehow a “national security” threat. "

This is in my neck of the world! Great job to our RI Atny Gen. Peter Neronha for representing RI in the suit! Love that guy! Will miss him when his term is up next year!

Just waiting for Trump to appoint Kim Davis to approve the future permits... "GAWD told me ONLY COAL!!!"

I hereby approve Trump being buried in a greasy, used oil drum in an unmarked grave never to be heard from again, after his filet-o-infarction and double cheese coronary. That way after he passes away he can always be close to his fossil fuels.

"As for Monday’s decision overturning the Wind Order, the White House’s first response was, as always, to whine"

The standard response Doktor!

They got president shitty pants stinking up the office all week.

Champion whiners our white house and republicans.

They've been whining so long it's all they can do not to do any sneaky stuff.

Free beach's avatar

Fuck their feelings. Yes they are beholden to oil and fossil fuels, but I’m beginning to think it’s also because he doesn’t want big blowhard and fart competition with wind.

God bless Judge Saris, “arbitrary and capricious” applies to everything (is there an exception?) Trump does. Nowadays I sometimes picture Trump as Godzilla, tromping and crushing everything good about the United States. How did they kill Godzilla again?

I like the end that the humans and Gamera devised for the monster Gyaos. It involved a building a huge platform to spin with Gyaos tied to it, in order to make him dizzy.

Then Gamera stops up Gyaos' mouth by tossing at boulder at him, before dragging him to an active volcano's rim and heaving Gyaos into it.

kmblue187's avatar

I still would like to know how Godzilla met his end. I can’t get rid of my image of a huge Trumpzilla stomping, slashing and crushing everything good about the U.S. under his feet.

Always Be Ithacating's avatar

Apparently Godzilla has been killed for sure in two movies – Godzilla (1954) and 'Godzilla vs. Destoroyah' (1995). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla_(1954_film), https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godzilla_vs._Destoroyah

In the first, he's killed by a weapon called the Oxygen Destroyer, which "disintegrates oxygen atoms and causes organisms to asphyxiate, then dissolve, leaving nothing behind." In the second, Godzilla is exposed to a nuclear explosion on his home island, and becomes a kind of nuclear reactor himself, then undergoes a fatal meltdown.

Now I'm seriously considering an edifying marathon viewing over the holidays.

kmblue187's avatar

Thank you! Can we use it on Trumpzilla?

Always Be Ithacating's avatar

Sure! In the later film, Godzilla has to lumber around with a terrible skin rash that looks like open flames. That seems suitable for Trumpzilla!

Solid write-up on the ruling! The judge calling out the lack of any actual "review" plan exposes how hollow these proceduraly challenges can be when they're just meant to stall an entire sector. I've seen similar agency slow-walks in tech policy where the excuse of "studying the problem" masks politcal opposition, not genuine due diligence. If they can't even articulate what they're reviewing after 10 months, courts tend to sniff that out pretty quick.

Major advertisers appeared to sit out a new CBS News town hall telecast Saturday, moderated by Bari Weiss and featuring an interview with Erika Kirk.

Lack of Madison Avenue support could challenge the viability of the format, which Weiss wants to expand

The movie is over if you would like to join us there OT. BTW the rumors of my early demise in a winter car crash have been exaggerated. It was merely a close call. Nothing keeps your Movieboss down.

Totally called this about the CBS town hall bs

“During the hour, commercial breaks were largely filled with spots from direct-response advertisers, including the dietary supplement SuperBeets; the home-repair service HomeServe.com; and CarFax, a supplier of auto ownership data. Viewers of of the telecast on WCBS, CBS’ flagship station in New York, even saw a commercial for Chia Pet, the terra-cotta figure that sprouts plant life after a few weeks.”
