You need to fly two or three times a week to be competent. You need four or five times a week to actually improve beyond competence. The US has the money and materiel to do that. Off the top of my head, the only other countries that are really worth a shit in that regard are the UK, France, Israel. Canada maybe. I'm sure I left out a few.If you fly once a week, you are more of a hazard than an asset. See Russia and most of the old eastern block.
