Zero sympathy for the idiot Marine who voted for Trump only to see his wife deported. He gets the same sympathy from me that the moron farmers who are supporting Trump's insane trade war with China, despite the strong likelihood that the ill advised conflict will end in disaster.

As a disabled veteran, it was obvious the contempt that Trump holds me and mine. Do you remember his comments during the 'Commander in Chief' debate, where an ignorant and arrogant idiot archly corrected a veteran on a topic he is just as ignorant of now as he was then?

Watch her face tighten as he one ups her, completely avoiding the question as asked and babbling some bull shit talking points regarding privatizing VA functions and services. The elevation of Trump to the presidency and the hypocrisy of the largely white, elderly, bigoted and ignorant membership of the VFW played a large role in why I shook them off.

The Army throughout the history of this country (not the Navy or Marine Corps, they are STILL institutionally racist and always have been) has been a chance for and minorities to serve and thus 'earn' their right to walk among us as citizens. My brigade CSM in the 82nd ABN became a citizen after 25 years in uniform, having fled from Poland during the time of the Warsaw Pact. The Army has a proud history at the forefront of the American dream for many, Jackie Robinson was an Army officer before he was the first player to integrate baseball and Colin Powell, whose name was once one under consideration for President, was a 1st Generation American, his parents having immigrated from Jamaica.

Right now, the US military is in over 100 nations across the globe and the percentage of soldiers with foreign language skills (aside from Spanish) is at or near all time lows, despite the unprecedented need for those skills (given our current deployments).

('Small Wars Journal' is published by my former battalion commander, Col K Nightingale USA (Ret), a legendary infantry officer and Spec Ops leader)

We have watched Trump screw over our interpreters in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Middle East, we have watched the DoD destroy a program designed to attract foreign nationals with critical language skills, we have watched his contempt for soldiers in general and POC in particular and his willingness to destroy this country's promise to its veterans and allow the VA to be turned into just another 'profit center' for his cronies. There isnt any time (or need) do delve into his likely collusion and treason against this nation to make the case for his incompetence as 'Commander of Cheeze'.

Trump's platform from the announcement of his candidacy has always been one of hatred, bigotry and ignorance, designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator in American society. Any person of color who was willing to support him earlier should be ashamed of that fact and any who support him now are beyond shame. How can they persist in the illusion that the leopard wont eat their faces too is beyond me.

I feel bad for all my brothers and sisters in arms dealing with increasing readiness requirements, longer hours, deficient manpower and a madman at the helm of our sinking ship, but nothing but contempt for this idiot Marine who thought somehow HE (and his wife) were special and not subject to the tyrant/child's decree. It is almost a YEAR after Maria and there are still places without electric power, IMO because the residents are non-white (and have no vote).

At some point the people of this nation must face the truth about our country and our 'leader', but people like me with a year round tan have no excuse for our continuing ignorance.
