Graduating from High School with a 1.7 GPA is nothing to brag about. Either he was not very bright, or he was not motivated to do better. Giving him the benefit that he was not stupid, then perhaps, LAFD wanted someone who was more motivated.

When you start out at age 30 hosting a show with “Juggies” and “girls jumping on trampolines,” you are destined to follow the Rob Schneider path to conservative grievance.
Caucasian men have said ‘I don’t need a college degree, I’m White.’ on more than a few occasions.(outloud on jobs). ‘I don’t need a degree to be a manager.’ When a Caucasian woman(#1 recipients of EEO and DEI) or a Black man, each with a 4 year degree in the specific field and a master’s, got the job, the same Caucasian men then said, they had been passed over because of EEO and DEI.
I think one of the things maga like most about Trump is the idea that qualifications and credentials are simply elite, highbrow, liberal intellectual concepts. He hires people based on fealty and ideology rather than experience, training or competence. They love that. Because loyalty to Trump is easy for them. Plus you get to thumb your nose at snooty, educated people and their advanced degrees. Trump made it more than ok to be an ignorant toady, he made it hip.
And a 17 year old with a 1.7 GPA is not going to shoot to the top of anyone's hiring pile, regardless. There was always the military- that's what guys like that usually do.
