Our first cat mostly preferred being outdoors, pretty much no matter the weather. One very snowy winter, he created a cat canyon leading from the kitchen (the door we generally used, and we often created a hill on top of part of the steps we didn't need for short-distance sledding/sliding). As I recall, it ended up deeper than he was tall by the end of the snowing season.
I was raised by basset hounds in the New Jersey wilderness, and when we had any significant amount of snow we'd have to go around and stomp out basset hound trails so they could get wherever they needed to be (around the house, the barns, etc.) This cat is their spirit animal.
Hi Wonks, and yes it is time to buy gold and or silver. I bought silver in early November and the price has doubled since then and it will double again before the end of this year or my name ain't rumple o'stiltskin.
I got my MBA in the 80's and been studying economics, business, and finance since then. If the dollar collapses, or the stock market tanks, or the bond market goes into ze toilet or real estate heads down like it did in '08 or commercial real estate's extreme loss from covid delinquency shows up on the books or about 8 other exciting but frail systems fail, only "my precious" metals will save yer ass. Did I mention we are acquiring another trillion in debt every 100 days?
What happens if Costco and others prevail and get all the tariff money back? Are they going to distribute those portions their customers paid to them or just keep the whole shebang?
Some might. Others (I posit the vast majority) won't. There's so many purchases across so many sectors it becomes a fool's errand to try (FWIW Them corps do owe everyone affected but modern capitalism ain't give two shits let alone a single fuck about the consumer).
The national nightmare continues uninterrupted and unabated, same as always in MrKKKa, but under the Fourth Reich the comp'ny just like the gambling house always, always, always wins
"ICE detainees may not have been getting medical care since October?"
Is this really surprising to anyone? I just assumed from the start that ICE would refuse to do anything at all that even resembled treating their detainees like human beings.
NYT: "The court has yet to issue a highly anticipated ruling on the legality of the president’s other potentially major economy-shaking initiative. The Supreme Court announced decisions in three cases on Tuesday but it did not issue a ruling on Mr. Trump’s novel use of an emergency statute from the 1970s to set sweeping tariffs on imports from nearly every U.S. trading partner. The timing of the court’s decision has been the subject of much speculation and anticipation. But now it may not land for at least several more weeks.
The court has yet to set a date for its next opinion announcements, but barring some change, the next possibility is one month from now on Friday, Feb. 20. That’s the first day the justices are scheduled to be back on the bench before another round of oral arguments."
"...grateful that the ICE goons brought him home, eventually, instead of just leaving him miles away in his Crocs and boxers..."
Because just last week, they did that to a teenager ( altho' the kid was probably wearing more than Crocs and boxers ). Who says our ICE ain't l'arning!
"Overnight, while most of the country was asleep and the rest of us were not actively plotting international incidents, [Trump] was up posting two images so catastrophically stupid they belong behind glass with an alarm and a placard that reads This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things. One shows him planting the American flag on Greenland like a deranged Cold War Boy Scout, beaming with pride as he earns his Imperialism Merit Badge, stitched onto a sash made entirely of historical illiteracy, third-grade geography, and the kind of raw fucking audacity that only appears after midnight when impulse control clocks out and reality stops being supervised.
"The other image slaps Canada and Greenland under the Stars and Stripes like a sweaty gas-station poncho tossed over a body that did not consent to being part of this kink. Territorial fan fiction for men who think MS Paint is a legitimate instrument of statecraft, conquest is foreplay, and shouting “mine” loud enough is governance.
"It was the darkest of times. It was the dumbest of times."
The Peace President: "Trump said in an interview that aired Tuesday he has issued “very firm instructions” for the country of Iran to be obliterated should anything happen to him at the hands of its regime." “Well, they shouldn’t be doing it but I’ve left notification, anything ever happens, we’re going to blow ... the whole country is going to get blown up,” vowed Trump."
No no no! Now is not the time to buy gold! Buy LOW and sell HIGH! I bought gold when it was $242/ounce back a few decades ago. Still holding it though kind of tempted to sell (if I wasn't too lazy to). Precious metals have always been manipulated but it has been very crazy lately. Heard that Russia Russia Russia is moving all the gold they can get their hands on to some sekret location. Are they going to get it up higher then sell off and buy into the next thing? Probably not dollars at this point. If/when they do and everyone is crying about how low gold is, then you buy.
Is it very wrong of me to think that Usha isn't even really pregnant? That it's all a lie to garner sympathy?
I am reminded of that scene in The Birdcage where Dianne Weist says "everybody loves a wedding!" Just a ploy to distract from the scandal coming closer to her husband.
That wouldn't surprise me in the least. Then, when Trump drops dead and Vance is sworn in, we will be told that Usha had a miscarriage at the news of Trump's death so NOBODY BETTER SAY ANYTHING MEAN ABOUT JD.
Trump: “I think God is very proud of the job I’ve done.”
If anything, Trump very existence is undeniable proof that a god doesn’t exist.
Either that, or the universe is ruled by some Lovecraftian elder deity that feeds on death and madness, dancing to the weird piping of insane, inhuman flutists.
Wonder how much of this FOX will show? It should be a real eye-opener to the sheeple that think he's brilliant. They will do a deep dive for his more sane and relevant (for the audience) comments, good luck with that.

Frozen kitty refuses to give up!
A whole new meaning to Snowcat.
Kitty needs an icebreaker named after her.
Boaty McCatface!
Kazakhkitty!
"I'm breaking trail for my kitty friends!"
You have a very understated way of expressing that the twists and turns are from a cool kitty to an odd religious cult. It drew me right in.
Russian Amish!
Right? Come for the cats, learn obscure religious history.
🎶 Dashing through the snow, sort of 🎶
"Donts likes whiteses powderses. Sso coldses. Must getses to my preciousss Tabssessses."
Waiter, what is this kitty doing in my snow?
The breaststroke, sir.
Babby kitty learning about the joys and chills of snow. It's another arctic cold and snowy day in Michigan.

Uh oh! Trump has a "framework of an agreement" regarding Greenland!
As we all know, that don't mean shit, just like his stopping 8 wars!

Hed: Yes, you are paying most of Trump's tariffs. Here are the receipts
Subhed: Researchers say Americans are overwhelmingly "footing the bill" for tariffs, as Trump brandishes them in a bid to seize Greenland
What happens if Costco and others prevail and get all the tariff money back? Are they going to distribute those portions their customers paid to them or just keep the whole shebang?
Ultimately, no, my dear friend.
Some might. Others (I posit the vast majority) won't. There's so many purchases across so many sectors it becomes a fool's errand to try (FWIW Them corps do owe everyone affected but modern capitalism ain't give two shits let alone a single fuck about the consumer).

True.

Everything is a show with these motherfuckers.
No sympathy! She willingly slept with him, she knows the risks.
I'm sure they had a careful, measured conversation on the matter and came to the agreement that they both wanted another of her children.
47 days of training for ICE?
More like 4 to 7 days.

I saw a couple of short clips on Bluesky and SHIT, what a mess. Can't imagine sitting through that whole thing.
