Trump's Sugar Daddy Has Lost That Horny Feeling
Robert and Rebekah Mercer aren't happy with their 'investment.'
Is there ANY good news for the bumblefucking Trump re-election campaign these days? Their polling numbers are in the shitter, therefore Trump is firing the pollsters. Trump's Hitler rally kickoff event in Florida last night was ... whatever it was. Oh, and did we mention that they ain't got no money? Like, of course, not counting whatever Russian money they're not telling us about.
Don Jr. recently called a prominent donor and warned that Trump's money haul is falling behind where Barack Obama was early in his reelection, while Jared Kushner has privately complained to RNC chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel that Trump's war chest is not as big as it should be at this point in the cycle.
Whiiiiiiiiiine . Guess they're gonna have to see if they can launder some rubles somewhere, ALLEGEDLY.
Gabe Sherman has some more bad news about Trump's shithole campaign, and it is that Robert and Rebekah Mercer, the father-daughter billionaire duo who bankrolled much of Trump's "victory" in 2016 -- including funding Breitbart, and also the part of the "victory" that comprised Cambridge Analytica, the data company they owned that may have done some real hinky stuff, possibly with Russia, in order to get Trump "elected" -- have zipped up their checkbooks and decided Trump can go eat dicks for all they care.
With their ties to Steve Bannon, Breitbart, and Cambridge Analytica, Robert Mercer and his daughter Rebekah were superstars last cycle. According to half a dozen sources familiar with the reclusive family's political activities, the Mercers have drastically curtailed their political donations in recent months and will likely not play a significant role in 2020. "They think that the administration could do so much more. They've been very vocal about that to the president," a person familiar with the Mercers' thinking told me. "It's like they've disappeared," the former West Wing official added. "Crickets. They're gone," a prominent Republican strategist said.
Aw sad, sounds like they hate Trump because he's been a gigantic disappointment. Nobody could have seen that one coming, except for literally everybody who pegged Trump as an all-talk, no-action, dumbfucking loser from the get-go. Guess the Mercers just aren't that smart.
Sherman tallies up all the moneys the Mercers spent in 2016, that they presumably will not be spending in 2020:
$15.5 mil spread out to a bunch of groups working to elect Trump
A million for the inaugural
$10 million to Breitbart, because above all, the Mercers are gross
Lots of more millions for Cambridge Analytica
All of which adds up to $49 million in a ton of different directions in the 2016 campaign!
But not this year:
But in 2018 the Mercers donated only $400,000 to the pro-Trump Great America PAC, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Their total political spending dropped to $2.9 million last year. Sources said the Mercers cut back their spending because they felt scarred by the press scrutiny that followed their association with Trump. Two sources said Rebekah's divorce from her husband is also motivating her to keep a low profile. "This whole thing did not end up well for them," former Trump adviser Sam Nunberg told me. "They've been destroyed," a former West Wing official said. A former Renaissance executive said: "Bob views all his political spending as a bad investment."

But as Sherman notes, it's not like Trump was the Mercers' first choice in 2016 or anything. They're not that stupid. They were slurpin' around in Ted Cruz's empty soup cans before Trump came along and won the election. Bannon and Kellyanne Conway were also originally Ted Cruz people, shunted into Trump's failing Russian campaign at the end at the behest of the Mercers.
Also, TBQH, it doesn't sound like Ted Cruz was really the Mercers' first choice, either. It's just that, as it is with so many people who will go down in history as people who were willing to skullfuck the United States of America over their irrational hatred of Hillary Clinton, the Mercers were just doing everything in their power to make sure Killary Devil Woman Clinton didn't get to be president, because Daddy Mercer thinks Hillary Clinton is an actual murderer.
"Bob said she and her husband were murderers who would destroy the country. He thought she was an evil person and a socialist," [according to a former executive at Renaissance, the hedge fund Robert Mercer used to be co-CEO of but then got kicked out of because he's gross]
But now Hillary Clinton is not running. (OR IS SHE?) So we guess the Mercers are like hey whatev, let Rome burn, we got billions of ameros, and you can't have any.
Know who is Robert Mercer's first choice, according to Gabe Sherman? Cats. He just loves cats. Maybe he will spend millions of dollars doing an undercover conspiracy with the Russian government to get "cats" elected president of the United States. Wouldn't that be PURRRRFECT, Vladimir PURRRRR-TIN?
