I seem to recall some people complaining about diversity and SJW agendas in current sci fi/fantasy movies/shows and then using Star Trek as an example of "good" sci fi without that pesky social commentary. And I was just sitting there going dude, have you ever actually watched Star Trek? That's the whole point of it!
"Several common diseases in the UAE, Oman and Bahrain have reached epidemic levels - more than 100 cases per 100,000. They include thalassaemia (a blood disorder), diabetes, breast cancer and Down's syndrome. Less common genetic disorders in the Emirates include muscular dystrophy and kidney disease. About 63 per cent of the genetic conditions in Arab populations are due mostly to marriage between close relatives such as first cousins, clinically known as consanguinity.
"Such marriages, deeply ingrained in Arab culture, are on the rise in the UAE, where the rate is the fifth-highest in the Arab world. In Dubai, 40 per cent of marriages are between relatives, according to the latest statistics. In Al Ain that figure reaches 54 per cent, and in Abu Dhabi 32 per cent. Across the Arab world, Sudan and Mauritania have the highest rates, amounting to two-thirds of all marriages. However, consanguinity is on the decline in, for example, Egypt and Tunisia."
Many people don't realize that Gene Roddenberry purposefully was taking on social issues in the plots of many Star Trek episodes including but not limited to racism and bigotry. He had a diverse crew for a reason.
My mom's objection to Star Trek was that it had different ethnicities when by that point we would all be some variation of brownish skin. I felt she had a point, but needed to acknowledge the fact that the shows were not actually filmed in the future.
It is my understanding - correct me if incorrect - that Korean-Japanese, some of whose families have been there for 100 years, are not actually considered Japanese and never will be. Even though they "look a lot the same" to Western eyes.
She infuriates me. Her Facebook page used to have a lot of discussion and some light trolling from people like me. Now it ONLY has page after page of pictures of herself. Most very cleavage-y, too. It is odd.
Can I staple Rs to a board while bombarding them with mosquitoes?
Fuck Marco Rubio. He is complicit in this tragedy just like every other R.
And oh fuck Steve King too. Nazis like him need to burn in hell while being punched. With votes.
I don’t know. He seems pretty gloat-y to me.

Since Marco is so offended by the word fuck, I will instead call him a feckless cunt.
