Progressive state Sen. Ellie Kinnaird resigned her seat in the North Carolina Senate Monday so that she can work on a project to register voters and help ensure that people get proper ID so they can vote despite the state's idiotic new voter suppression laws.
Sen. Kinnaird you are a true public servant. Too bad you can't get the same results by staying put...those other legislative shitmuffins should be the ones stepping down.
I'm happy to hear that was knocked out, but really, it was pretty pointless, viz:
Assuming that most students that want to vote where they live (that is, attend college) want to do this so they can influence elections where they live; and assuming that virtually all liberal parents, and probably quite a few conservative ones, agree with this idea; and noting that this tax credit would only apply to parents who were claiming the student as a dependent; and observing that if you are claiming your student as a dependent, you are likely paying a metric shitload of money already; and speculating that the tax credit is probably as tiny as tax credits usually are;
