In fact, despite how much I hate Donald Trump is President, I hope this investigation takes months. It would be nice if it wrapped up just before the next election. The problem with a quicker outcome is that too many voters have the attention span of fruit flies and we need to keep this as a live issue.
I honestly can't predict what Trump would do. He might convince himself he would be vindicated in an impeachment and make his enemies look like fools. And we know how he loves a big audience.

Maybe Trump could pardon Pence, resign, and be pardoned in return. And the Repub base would see both of them a victims.
