STAY AWAY FROM HER, ANDY LACK.
Since the election and inauguration of Donald John "Pussgrab" Trump, MSNBC's ratings have gone through the roof. "The Rachel Maddow Show" is the highest-rated cable news show in existence, as she focuses her laser pointer on the Trump regime each night. Right behind Maddow's show in ratings is the Lawrence O'Donnell program, which is good and nice in its own right. Whether O'Donnell's ratings are so high because people love him, or if it's just because liberals are too lazy to change the channel after Rachel, we do not know. What we DO know is that MSNBC's primetime formula is working.
So Andy Lack, the head of NBC News, apparently wants to fuck it all up. It's being reported that O'Donnell's contract expires in just a few weeks, and nobody at MSNBC is talking about renewing it:
Lawrence O’Donnell, host of MSNBC’s “The Last Word,” has just four weeks left in his contract, and the cable network does not appear to be interested in renewing his deal. Four well-placed sources tell HuffPost that MSNBC has not been in contact with O’Donnell’s team of representatives to negotiate a new deal. [...]
If O’Donnell’s contract is not renewed, that would not come as a surprise to many network insiders. Andy Lack, the chairman of NBC News, is no fan of O’Donnell’s program, sources say. Some say it’s because he doesn’t appreciate the liberal nature of “The Last Word,” but others say it’s about the fact that O’Donnell rejected Lack’s request to move his program from 10 p.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time.
Um, yeah, OK. Huffington Post quotes NBC spokes-nerds issuing Sean Spicer-esque statements about how Lawrence O'Donnell has the full confidence of the NBC chairman, but you'll pardon us if we ignore all that.
HuffPo notes that if O'Donnell's show ends, that will make the orange asshole in the White House very happy, because O'Donnell is always very mean to Orange Asshole, and that some at MSNBC think Lack is making decisions based on what he thinks will make Orange Asshole happy:
There is a fear, among some at MSNBC, that Lack is making programming decisions in an effort to appease the Trump administration (an accusation that has been made of CNN and Fox News), which may lead to more access to the White House and in turn, conservative viewers.
That ... is a really stupid business plan.
Lack also apparently thinks O'Donnell only gets so many viewers because Rachel is so popular, which as we said, could be true. The night time hosts at MSNBC are ranked, in order of talent, as follows:
ONE: Rachel.
TWO: Chris Hayes
THREE: Lawrence.
FOUR: All the others.
LAST PLACE: Greta.
But it seems Lack might also suffer from a wee spot of Dunning-Kruger, just like his boy Trump. He's pretty sure MSNBC is doing so BIGLY TREMENDOUS BRILLIANT because of his own decisions:
Lack is said to dislike when people attribute his cable network’s blockbuster ratings to Trump: He believes, according to multiple sources, that the high ratings are largely a product of his programming decisions.
Yeah, about that ... Do y'all remember Ryan Grim's gigantic investigative piece about MSNBC from a couple weeks ago? Grim reported that Lack is very GRRR about how all his liberal evening hosts have such high ratings, because that makes it hard for him to rub hisdickexpertise all over the network and make itsuck really hardbetter:
Lack has targeted the network’s progressive programming since arriving at the network in spring 2015. [...]
Lack brought in Chuck Todd to host a 5 p.m. show. He canceled Al Sharpton’s 6 p.m. show, and ran one from Bloomberg’s Mark Halperin and John Heilemann in its place.
The Halperin-Heilemann program, which has since been canceled, was a hard-to-watch ratings disaster. Lack moved Van Susteren, formerly of Fox News, into the slot. That show has also been a ratings wreck.Across the board, shows that Lack has put his stamp on and moved to the center or to the right have not performed as well as the ones he has left alone...
“Every hour that Andy has not touched are the strongest hours on the network. Everything he has touched is lower rated,” said one well-placed insider.
Does that remind you of any current American presidents who have tiny hands and are total losers?
Look, MSNBC is still halfway decent, but let's be clear: We don't need another Fox News. We already have one, and it sucks a badger's B-hole. And what would Lack want to put on after Rachel? Something that will REALLY make Rachel's viewers want to stick around, like Greta Van Susteren saying "HENGHHHHH?" a lot? What about somebody real smart like moron MSNBC contributor Hugh Hewitt, who is apparently in negotiations for his own show, and whose only contribution to the network seems to be sucking up to Trump and then getting promptly kicked in the face by everybody else in the studio? Hey, while they're at it, why don't they beg Bill O'Reilly to bring his lady-grabbing hands over to MSNBC? Would that be WINNING?
Why is this stupid moron trying to break something that doesn't need fixing? Is he really doing this for Donald Trump, whose record of "winning" in the White House is so great he has a 39% approval rating at the moment? We just don't know.
But we do know this: If that asshole Andy Lack even tries to come for Rachel, we will literally say prayers for his penis to fall off inside a land shark's mouth. Please don't make Wonkette say such unkind prayers, as it is unbecoming and not at all ladylike!
Wonkette is fully funded by folks like you! If you like us, click below, to fund us!

I dunno... Chris Hayes in a little man-on-man might not be bad.
(the previous message was brought to you by my boner)
I watch Rachel Maddow for a good laugh not for any kind of new substance
