Another Choker: NY Rep. Sweeney

This is getting ridiculous. The Tuesday papers say New York State power broker and GOP Congressman John Sweeney has a little domestic-violence problem, and the Albany newspaper has the 2005 police report (PDF) to prove it.

Gaia M. Sweeney, 36, told a trooper that her husband had grabbed her by the neck and was pushing her around the house, according to the document.

The NY Daily News goes with "knocking her around the house," which is more dramatic.

Sweeney's campaign claims the police report is "unauthentic, false and concocted" and blamed his Dem opponent Kirsten Gillibrand, who has both Clintons to help her out. But the Daily News brought the report to state police, "who did not dispute its authenticity."

It's brutal out there. The worst anybody had on Sweeney until tonight was that he showed up at a frat party in April and had a good time knocking back beers with the college kids.
