A more likely explanation for the observed correlation between gender diversity on boards and enhanced financial performance is that more profitable companies are more likely to invest in social engineering initiatives such as "more women in the boardroom".
In 2012 I presented to House of Commons and House of Lords inquiries the already substantial evidence of a causal link between increasing gender diversity on corporate boards and financial DECLINE. The evidence is here:
In recent times Professor Alex Edmans (an economist and professor of finance at London Business School) has been very clear that there is no causal link with enhanced financial performance. A blog post with plenty of hyperlinks to his work:
Ta, Robyn. I've never tried e.l.f. products, but I just checked their website. Their cosmetics are all vegan, not tested on animals, and their ingredients are quite clean. Next time I need makeup, I'll give them a try.
Way way back when, Avon didn't hire my father as a color chemist because he was Jewish. Thus, none of us ever bought Avon products, even when a relative became an Avon Lady, Only a couple of decades later, they began catering to women of color in a big way, both as their sales force and their customers. They learned their lesson, apparently.
Msg. from Tabitha Brown re: black-owned businesses who have products on Target's shelves. Blanket boycotts of stores can have unintended consequences. Here's the YouTube link.
As an old white man with zero experience in cosmetics, I'll have to trust Robyn's knowledge of skin care and beauty products. I saw her several times on YouTube with SER and in that photo with Shawn Fain so it's clear to me that she's an expert.
Also, cos. that cave in to MAGA are incredibly stupid and short-sighted, bc MAGAts account for a far smaller % of the population that do moderates + lefties combined.
As a Poor who has depended on Target for nonperishables, sundries, and OTC stuff -- and as someone who has noticed the diversity of the models on Target's homepage -- I'm angry that Target has jumped on this bandwagon, tho its bullshttt with Pride month makes this not surprising.
I wonder whether lots of phone calls noting disgust with them, and a resolve not to shop there, would help -- ?
A trend I see growing (just looking at Target) is these companies are rebranding DEI as 'belonging'
Keep an eye on this one
They acknowledge the benefits of a DEI program, and still want to keep most of it, but they don't want it to be 'out' (har har) to the public.
It might work to satiate MAGA and think they got a conversion. A somewhat unrelated through-line, MAGA loves the shallow, performative stuff in general. We see this in white, evangelical MAGA Christianity: Just saying you are Christian is way more important than actually being one
I think it's cowardly of Target to do, nonetheless. I loved Target. And now I feel embarassed and kind of stupid for patting myself on the back that I was shopping at a brick and mortar over ordering just everything online. I enjoyed retail therapy from time to time.
I know corporations are worried about retaliation, but if there was ever a moment in history not to abandon our values, this is it.
I was talking about Target specifically - I was making a prediction that some companies still want to do DEI-on-the-sly and will simply change the name of the program to avoid ire.
I don't known anything about make-up but I'll give this article a thumbs-up.
Hi Robyn. Appointing more women to boards will make them more profitable? One of many long-debunked feminist myths. Correlation does not imply causation https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Correlation_does_not_imply_causation.

All these bigots can fuck right off.
just bought some stock...
Maybe "A bias toward action" is not as important as "an action away from bias."
Wait, I thought Tim Apple was a member of the on-stage broligarchy patrol? Why hasn’t his company fully embraced the suck?

haha...I don't usually wear makeup, but now I want to buy some e.l.f. product. Maybe the lip balm...
MAGAts can use lead white makeup. That way they can poison themselves.
I need to get a light weight foundation with sunscreen, and new lip color. Who knew going gray would change how your skin tone looks!
I think I'll check out e.l.f.
I'm guessing I. G. Farben went the route of rejecting DEI.

I’m glad not everyone is caving to Trump’s attempt to make racism great again.

Sources? I'd like to take a look at that trend
