My SO got tetanus. He wasn’t UTD on his boosters. I was at work (emergency dispatcher) and he called me to tell me how weird he felt. Me “GO TO THE ER RIGHT NOW and tell them what happened, you have tetanus!!!” He sure did. He received treatment and is fine. A patient that was flown with the service I worked for did not fare so well. It had advanced in him. We stay UTD now (we were never anti vaxxers anyway, we both worked in health care and know how it goes)
Oddly enough, I'm in 'Murika right now visiting, (I retired in Thailand) and went to a CVS yesterday and got all my boosters. DTaP, Shingles, Pneumonia, Regular Flu, and the new Covid for 2024........happy to report I'm still sucking air at age 70 (both arms a little sore though).......
I'm sorry if there's already been a comment thread about this but HEY pertussis is REALLY SCARY and herd immunity is suffering in some areas. If you are around young kids, and ESPECIALLY if you are going to be in close contact with an infant, PLEASE GET THE TDAP BOOSTER you totally can.
I am so fucking sick of idiots that claim to be smarter than their doctors, teachers, scientists or any other group that has spent years learning and perfecting their craft. Nothing says how insecure you are about your education - or refusal to be educated - like "I'm SMRTR than my doctor!"
These are the same people who think having sixteen firearms in the house including three AR15s will save them from the caravans of disease carrying migrants and the zombie hordes that will follow.
Next you'll be trying to tell us my dogs are at risk from worms and heartworms and distemper and other horrible diseases if they don't get the expensive jabs from the vet every year, when you only have to look at their happy smiliing faces to see how powerful their natural immunity is.
The good news here is that a tetanus infection is not transmissible between humans. So health care workers are not being put at risk. The bad news is that some kids are going to die because their parents are idiots. I would also very likely condone rejection of an insurance claim made by any adult who contracted tetanus after refusing the vaccine. (Exceptions, like for transplant patients, are reasonable.)
The appearance of some clown from George Mason University supporting this stupidity is telling. I regard George Mason as a highly suspicious institution, along with the Claremont Graduate University and any department or the University of Chicago that focuses on money. These are in addition to the obviously flaky schools like Liberty University or Oral Roberts U.
I have an unusual reaction to the tetanus vaccine each time I get it (extreme joint stiffness and a very weird feeling as though my heart stops…and then starts again) and in my 30s I finally mentioned it to my doctor, detailing my memories of my Kindergarten shots on up through the present day. She suggested I might want to skip the boosters. But do you know, I’d rather have to sit in the waiting room for a half hour after each decade’s booster to be sure I don’t pass out or become unable to drive than die in agony!
How driven by anxiety are these people, that they would deny their child a lifesaving vaccine based on a general feeling that vaccines aren’t necessary?
AND IIRC, after the life-saving, enormous, highly skilled, extraordinary work of the hospital during those 57 days, the boy was then offered a tetanus vaccine and THE PARENTS STILL REFUSED. Honestly the boy should have been taken from them. They utterly neglected him when he had tetanus (he was almost dying when they finally went to the hospital), and they are quite obviously going to continue to neglect him.
needles are icky and my mom made me get one as a babby so now i'm throwing a big old tantrum about it because apparently being stupid is a virtue and not an embarrassment and i shoulda been told that reality is what it is as a kid and make it stick.... that's it, that's the subtext
Ta, Robyn. I'm torn. One the one hand, I want everyone to get the vaccines they need to stay healthy. On the other hand, I don't give a fuck if all these assholes die. That would raise the average IQ worldwide, and that would be all to the good..

Is it "stolen valor" or "stolen status" for a revoked-license doctor to continue to call herself a "doctor"? It's fraudulent, that's for sure.

(obligatory) "But what about his Dip-Tet???"
He's gotta have his Dip-Tet, honey! (And go to Arizona State.)

Wonkette = front for Big Pharma.
Is this big farmer anything like that Paul Bunion guy?
And Babe, his blue sox.

"you could spasm so terribly that you would suffocate to death and fall on the floor and die, like within minutes or hours"
>I've only seen it on the tv, but that sounds more like cyanide poisoning(?)
COVID-19 Update: New Vaccines Ready and Free Tests Are Coming Back | Teen Vogue

> Households will be able to order up to four free tests, and the FDA has authorized updated COVID-19 vaccines.
Can you get it from other peoples’ wounds?

Except genes are not an important factor for either IQ or being stupid about vaccines.
Also, you're a hair away from eugenically causing children to die horrible deaths. How about we don't do that.
I abhor eugenics. I'm talking about adults refusing vaccines, and I'd be really really sorry to see their children as collateral damage.
I care about the kids. The assholes themselves, not as much.
"I'm going to hit myself in the head with this hammer, and you can't stop me!"
One great thing these idiots have done for us: Keeping the vaccination lines short.
