Here’s my take. Thomas is a corrupt person. And a fucking zealot , also too. Alito is a fucking zealot. And corrupt, also too.

The corruption was just going to sit empty anyway, so Alito might as well fly with it.

Ta, Dok. Good for AOC. I want Mitch McConnell to suffer for shoving Amy Boney Carrot onto SCOTUS after Americans had already started voting. Suffer, MMcC, and DIAF.

"Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez yesterday filed articles of impeachment against Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito"

And, unfortunately, the articles of impeachment have the same probability of success as those of the efforts by Comer, Jordan, and Smith have been in impeaching Pres Biden.

-----

"The entire Republican Party is now happy to look away from the sleaziest behavior by its most powerful figures, both elected and not, even those who are officially supposed to be neutral arbiters of the law, as long as it means the GOP gets the political outcomes it wants."

The GOP is dead, long live the New GOP. Despite the rancor that would flair up on the floor, in the past we could count on both major parties to come together for the sake of the country and not just their own tribes. Since the rise of the Fulvous Flatulence the chasm between the two parties has grown to the point that I'm not sure the divide can be bridged.

Within the New GOP obstinance and oppression have been the guiding lights. The primary concern of the RINOs is that it is taking them too long to usher in a governance by the minority. If they don't like something, even a single phrase in a 100 page proposal, they'll do what they can to sink it. Worse, if the Mango Malignancy disapproves of something in a proposal, they'll try and sink it. Worst of all, even if legislation contains everything they want, with a minimal head nod to what the Dems want, if the Goldenrod Grotesqueness wants to use the issue as a cudgel they'll vote against their own self-interests (i.e. border security).

-----

"These articles of impeachment are in a whole different universe than the Republican-led “impeachment” efforts against President Biden and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas"

That is a matter of opinion, even though I agree. Ask any member of the Psychiatric Facility Escapee Caucus and you can be assured that they will view AOC's efforts as nothing more than political theater and the myriad unsuccessful attempts to impeach Pres Biden are completely valid -- someone needs to hold the corrupt Biden administration accountable, and the entire Biden Crime Family belongs behind bars. (Projection, thy name is MAGA.)

-----

And through all of the travails and tribulations of the current SCOTUS, Chief Justice Roberts has done nothing to try to salvage the honor and authority of his court. He might be talking the talk (on rare occasions), but he most assuredly doesn't walk the walk. It's almost as if he couldn't care less if his legacy is tarnished (or at least the little legacy he has achieved).

For all of those saying this is a waste of time etc.

86% of Americans get their news from a smartphone/tablet/computer. They read the headline and IF they have the time/inclination they MIGHT click and read the lede para. That is it.

Multiple polls have found TikTok to be the top source of news for Gen Z, and an increasingly popular source for Americans overall. A 2023 Pew survey found that one-third of adults under 30 regularly scroll TikTok for news, up 255% since 2020

AOC is a master of TikTok and social media in general. She knows how to grab attention. She 8Million followers on Instagram where , when she can, she does livestreams where she explains how government works. More under 30's trust her than older white men and women in the D party.

She knows this wont go anywhere. She also knows it will be all over social media and, like how P2025 is suddenly a big topic, she knows it will make some people ask the right questions.

Now that SCOTUS has decried that Joe Biden is a king who can do no wrong, could he just swap AOC for Merrick Garland?

Even without the Supremes' king ruling, the last convicted felon in that office demonstrated that the President doesn't need Senate approval for ANY appointees, the Constitution clearly notwithstanding. Most such positions in his admin operated under Acting heads for his entire term (even though only a couple *lasted* for his entire term). He could appoint Michelle Obama if he wanted to (but of course, she'd be confirmed).

Here is an idea: You are in a high stakes game of golf (19 holes), and you are playing with a fairly diverse group of golfers. Biden is playing, as is Trump. Which one do you think will cheat and lie about where the ball lays at any one time during your round of golf?

It's obvious that at least 6 of the 9 justices need a remedial course in Constitutional Law. Basically there's no separation of church and state anymore. These Republicans are stating that they're going to create a theocracy. As an atheist I am totally against a theocracy but even if I wasn't, I would be against it. It's not the government's place to mandate doctrine. The whole reason our ancestors came here and committed mass genocide was because Europe wasn't uptight enough with their new and improved reformed churches. Evidently enough heretics weren't getting burned and witches were running amok or whatever the fuck bullshit reason those idiots thought it would be a great idea to totally fuck over the indigenous population and settle on the eastern seaboard but I digress... There can be no national religion here and the supreme Court cannot make it so. If nothing else, it will restart religious wars over Protestantism and Catholicism and which Protestants are using the "right" type of pseudochristianity(which I think might be kinda fun to watch).. I digress again. Either the supreme Court does it's job to uphold the constitution or we impeach them and before they give themselves immunity.

I'd like to second this motion, Thank you, they have soiled this bench and we must remove the stench so that it cannot become ingrained. I do wish she'd added Chief Justice John Roberts for the Immunity decision he wrote this year, which is entirely contradictory to the decision he wrote about the same subject in May 2020 where he stated 'the public is entitled to every mans evidence', which followed the rule of law. To now say that the DOJ cannot look at motive, which speaks to intent, intent being the fundamental element for criminal conviction is untenable.

You are right. They just either don't realize or don't care that Trump doesn't pay his debts or keep his word. I recently read he's either agnostic or atheist. He doesn't care about Christianity. It's just a tool he can use to get what he wants. His goal is pure vanity. It feeds his narcissistic appetite. He wants to control everything because of his ego. If he wins, that commandment will become thou shalt have no other gods before him. That and he doesn't want to pay taxes.

I tried to find the clip on YouTube, but couldn’t, of Alito at the start of his confirmation hearings. I’d never heard of him, but thought “jeez this guy is a giant douchebag,” because he sat there and drank an entire glass of water, slowly, before responding to the committee. If anyone can find that clip, please post it. What an asshole.

By the standard set by the House GQP with Alejandro Mayorkas, we should see Thomas and Alito impeached within a week.

I mean, the GQP will be consistent with their outrage, especially in a case where you have actual outrageous behavior, right?

"Alito gets his own article of impeachment for failure to disclose gifts from rich donors, specifically that fun Alaska fishing trip that Alito claimed wasn’t unethical because the private jet he rode in would have just flown with an empty seat if he hadn’t gone along, you see."

I wonder if Bob Menendez is going to try a similar argument. All those gold bars would have just been placed in a chest and burried on a desert island if he and his wife didn't provide them with a good home.
