I haven't taken Maureen Dowd seriously since...um...

Come to think of it, I never took Maureen Down seriously.

Remember when Maureen Dowd wrote that column about being opposed to legal cannabis because she stupidly ate an entire weed candy bar that was supposed to be multiple doses? It might explain this florid hallucination that she decided needed to be public if she did it again.

RPF is the worst and squicks me out.

Jab, jab, jab, (the maureen dowd sound effect!). She has fully demonstrated how good she is at making s*** up, so she could move on to a new chapter as a writer of fiction, where she can finally be herself.

Let's try a fresh thought experiment. In March 2024, Joe told Harris and Pelosi he would turn his campaign over to Harris immediately after the Republican convention. Joe feigned and exaggerated limitations and, of course, everybody fell for the act. Please don't tell anybody. It's a secret.

I don't know if the decision went back that far but his dropping out precisely when he did could only have been carefully planned by a master political strategist. Such as Joe Biden. Possibly he was even the person behind the "Don't vote for the old man" T-shirts that sold so well at the convention.

The 'thought experiment' was only that, a fantasy. A gentle, fanciful conspiracy theory isn't any more plausible than the dark conspiracy theories ever rampant on the Right.

"make shit up" - this is the NYT, after all. Definitely making shit up.

Dowd has been sniping at the Democrats for as long as I can remember. Mo, could you show us on the doll what Leon Panetta did to you?

This article should be hosted on an Archive Of Our Own, not the New York Times.

I'd have to go with the making shit up option.

I saw much speculation about whether MoDo needed to define "sitting shiva" (it properly takes a silent "h" at the end because the Hebrew word for seven ends in a silent "hai") for the NYT audience. A book review this Sunday defined Christie's auction house in a review of a book about an art thief, because naturally no one reading the review would have a clue what one of the two biggest art auction houses was.

the NYT despises their readership and it shows

Try to take any elderly person's driving privileges away and see if they go along with half the grace that OHJB showed.

Wait until you get there. As one rapidly approaching that point myself, I firmly believe it will be willingly and with understanding of safety for others as well as for my wife and myself. And I saw the same thing occur when we removed the key from my father's hand.

Please don't assume what you or others will be like when you reach old age; there will hopefully be grace and common sense still in the picture.

Isn't she as soused and decrepit as Peggy Pearlclutcher Noonan? She of the perpetually sour patch disposition
