Well, doggone, I didn't know the Navy had the moxie to do that. It wasn't just that the French navy beat the British navy, but that the French army at Yorktown scared the bejeebus out of Cornwallis, who was not afraid of the Continental Army. That was practically the only time the French navy ever beat the British navy (except for some battles in the Indian Ocean), so the work of American independence was a much closer thing than we tell ourselves.
