A report from the front lines of manufacture and hammer swinging: We are still building shit that nobody wants for months in the future because we have some asshole randomly firing shots at what the price of steel will be tonight. Everything is just fine over here and watching the 'just in time lean manufacturing' cultists tear their hair out is a joy unto us all.

Remember when Republicans insisted on gauging Barack Obama's jobs performance by the U6 unemployment metric rather than the U3 number used with previous presidents? Let's start doing that again.

"Lutnick claimed the tariffs are a huge victory"

That would be accurate if you think my not being able to buy a 2026 calendar with photographs of the beautiful architecture in Glasgow, Scotland "a huge victory." That's not what I'd call it but whatevs.

If you're on Mastodon, I encourage you to follow @thisismyglasgow. The guy does amazing work. The buildings are beautiful, and I've learned so much about architecture!

I recommend reading Paul Krugman (he's on substack). He's talked about that several times. Here's a link to one.

I never ever trust Trump's reported earnings. He's either inflating them or under reporting them depending on investor and IRA outcomes. The only thing we can count on is that the reported revenues are going to be cooked.
