What's that you say? A trump Executive Order isn't actually binding or enforceable as a law? Maybe it's only the ones that are more focused on cruelty that are treated as if they're written on stone tablets.

I remember the days when some health insurance plans covered Viagra but did not cover birth control pills, and then of course there was the SCOTUS Hobby Lobby decision which means some people with medical conditions that are treated by oral contraceptives no longer had insurance that covered them.

For some reason this subject reminds me of the insanity in our criminal justice system about who is a minor and who isn't. I am constantly reading articles about 15-yr-olds being charged as adults, because we can't make our fucking minds up in this country about who is a child and who is an adult. At 15 you aren't old enough to smoke a cigarette or drink a beer or drive a car, but you are old enough to be sent to an adult prison.

This country is just insane, there's no other way to describe it.

"Republicans sure don’t like government “handouts” or telling health insurance companies what they can’t do, but also because a rather large percentage of anti-abortion rights people think IVF is murder."

* The RINOs are opposed to government handouts to the wrong people, not handouts in general. Without gubmint welfare >>>to the correct people<<< a majority of the illionaires in the US couldn't remain as illionaires, ie Elmo the man-child would be worth considerably less if not for sweetheart contracts with SpaceX or the tax breaks once given to Tesla buyers (but no more since the passing of the Big Beautiful Blowjobs for Billionaires Bill).

* IMO, gubmint handouts also include obscene tax breaks for those born with a silver spoon under their noses or Congresscritters and their families getting rich(er) thanks to unregulated insider stock trading.

* Certainly IVF = murder. The destruction of unused embryos is tantamount to legal killing of the preborn, just as abortion is anathema to G-d's laws for the same reason.

-----

"he did issue an executive order back in February, announcing that it would be “the policy of my Administration to ensure reliable access to IVF treatment, including by easing unnecessary statutory or regulatory burdens to make IVF treatment drastically more affordable.”

He did not, however, include any actual directives for how that ought to happen."

* This is one executive diktat that the current regime will not run to SCOTUS for protection.

* The Congresscritters won't bite a hand that feeds them so no way they would say or do anything to put a crimp in insurance underwriting. In 2024:

> "$155,683,543 Total Spent on Insurance [lobbying] 175 Number of Clients 892 (60.54%) Number of Lobbyists/Percent of Former Government Employees" [in 2024] https://www.opensecrets.org/federal-lobbying/industries/summary?cycle=2024&id=f09

--and--

> "In 2023, the last year for which data is currently available, P&C [property and casualty] insurers spent approximately $57.2 million on lobbying while health insurers spent about $49.2 million. Life insurers spent approximately $31.1 million in 2023." https://www.spglobal.com/market-intelligence/en/news-insights/articles/2024/12/amid-growing-issues-with-affordability-p-c-insurers-outspend-peers-on-lobbying-86528923.

* Now why would the Fulvous Fuckwad include any actual directives? He's a rough idea of a concept of an outline for a plan kinda guy. He's way too busy to worry about the deets, that's what his sycophants, toadies, minions, and turd polishers are for. Besides, if the Carrot Chancre laid out any specifics someone might have the audacity to hold him to them.

Donald made the tactical mistake of not framing IVF as women making the “right” or “wrong” choices, or as paternity being the highest good.

Carstonio, you are looking at this from a liberal POV. There should be no questions about women making a wrong decision, that's what their men are for. Women are incapable of logical thinking and choice making without letting their emotions rule.

A woman should be barefoot, pregnant (but not via IVF), and in the kitchen as it says in the pseudochristians' Bible.

Trump told a bunch of people what they wanted to hear to get their votes. He told Muslims in Michigan he’d end the Gaza war, he told MAGA/QAnon he’d release the Epstein files, and people attempting IVF it’d be free.

I don’t know why people trusted him.

I feel like I’m out of step with so many people. Used to be I could sort of get where they are coming from. There was some internal logic behind it, even if the reasoning and conclusion were wrong.

I am at a loss why anyone would trust Trump.
