Barack Obama announced his support for Net Neutrality today, and after slapping a ruler on the desk as soon as everyone's eyes glazed over, he said he wants the Federal Communications Commission to reclassify internet services as a utility, which would allow the agency to keep internet providers from giving preferential treatment to data from companies willing to pay the highest possible fees. Pay attention! Yes, we know Net Neutrality is not sexxxy, but this is one of those things where you have to stay awake if you don't want Time Warner or Comcast to win.
Classifying the net as a utility will only work until it gets taken before the "Money equals Speech" version of our beloved Supreme Court.
The kind of "internet freedom" that Time Warner and Comcast support would be the kind that exists in those wonderful nations like China and Iran.
All this talk of "slow lanes" "traffic policing" "throttling" and "blocking" - how can Christie even handle this?
It's not like the government help created the internet. Get big guberment out of internet! Imagine if they tried to run social security or medicare.

The Internet is a series of tubes, big tubes, little tubes, all of them going in different directions and eventually meeting up somewhere. It's kind of like the Interstate highway system. Naturally, not all of these tubes are equal. You have your tiny little tube that goes to the Internet and then you have corporations with their big, shiny, expensive tubes. It stands to reason that some of the tubes are freeways and access roads, but the really cool tubes need to be toll roads because the Internet is just like a bunch of manufactured concrete structures.
But there is more. With everyone having their very own tube you've got to think that some of the tubes are Black and Hispanic. So now we have to consider that maybe some of the tubes aren't real Americans or maybe on Welfare. Nobody wants the Internet filled with illegal tubes trying to get to our websites. If you open up our Internet borders we will be overrun with illegal welfare tubes trying to get to our porn.
If only there was some specialty in professional communications that could inform the public when Cruz says something that's patently untrue...
The moneyed interests will start writing large checks and hiring the Luntz types and when the dust settles all those mouth breathers who gave the GOP their majorities last week will be completely convinced that the evil commie Obama wants to take away their facebook and porn...
