We know it's been a few days since Barack Obama's boldly redefined / slightly modified / utterly capitulated in the War On Terror, but since Yr. Editrix said that a good "think piece analysis" is allowed to be late, here is a Sunday morningish Wonket thinky piece on Barry's big
Here's the good part about getting the CIA out of the drone business: to the extent that it means they'll also get out of the war fighting business as well, it would be a Good Thing. Not because there'd be any less killing or any more accountability for that killing--what are you smoking?--but rather that it would allow the CIA to go back to its original mission, which is gathering intelligence.
What? You mean they're not doing that now?
Well, not very well. Because once you let the snake-eating combat heros into your organization, they inevitably end up running it. (You can't have desk jockeys in charge of Real Fighting Men.) And when that happens, everything that isn't snake-eating-related becomes secondary. And your agents get rolled up in Moscow wearing fright wigs and carrying junior G-man spy tools. On YouTube.
Just ask the Green Berets, who were once an elite "force" of highly trained medicos and propagandists and engineers, who studied the culture and learned the languages of the people the worked among--that is to say, winners of hearts and minds--rather than just really, really good airborne infantrymen like the Rangers.

I just checked Wikipedia's account of the history of the slogan. Mary Manley, one of the rediscoverers, later said "I didn't want it trivialised. But of course now it's been trivialised beyond belief." I think she'd make an exception for that.
My Little Droney bombs aren't all that dangerous but make excellent fertilizer with some smelly unpleasantness for the victims of a direct hit.
what we really need to do is hook up Pam Geller and Ross Douthat, combine them and you end up with Ross Geller. Bring in Rachael Maddow and voilà! you have the makings for a comeback for NBC
Gitmo has no redeeming value at all. It spits on the constitution, it shows our distrust in our juridical system and acts as a recruiting tool for terrorists. I'm not sure I understand what it takes to close the shithole down but we haven't seen anyone trying for years now. Get on with it. It shouldn't be hard to make the idiots blocking the closure to look like like hypocrites.
also, my memory is that in fact, IL volunteered it's backyard and the thomson correctional center was approved by key IL stakeholders.

How do the Ponies feel about those props spinning in their bung holes?
Yes - but only for a fraction of a second.
The money is made by the preachers -- where would Fred Phillips be without gays to hate?
