I call bullshit on the whole episode as reported by Ben Shapiro.
Ol' Ben says that he and his wife have a 24/7 security team. And Ben reports the robbery incident as if he was a witness to the event, not something that was told to him by his friends afterwards. So if Ben saw what was happening, so did his security team.
So why didn't any members of the Shapiro security team go to the aid of Shapiro's friends during the mugging? Why didn't any member of the security team get a license plate number during the incident? Why didn't the security team get Shapiro and his wife to a safer location while the mugging was taking place instead of allowing them to remain that close to a violent incident?
Didn't anyone of Shapiro's party have a cell phone by which to film what was happening to aid the police in their investigation into the incident? Chances are that a cell phone would be able to make out a license plate number even if a human couldn't see it, along with the faces of the attackers.
A 15 minute response time on a Saturday night in LA to a non-injury mugging? Yeah, right. Beverly Hills, maybe, but not LA.
Not as comedic as Uncle Ben's droll, yet dramatic reading of WAP lyrics... and his subsequent follow-up claiming that he and his dry wife agreed that such a thing is a 'medical condition' requiring 'treatment.' Also, I live in Los Angeles. It isn't the hellscape that Republicans portray.

THEN the muggers run around the car, Keystone-Fire-Drill style to accost Wife of Friend. What is Wife of Friend doing while this is going on? Sitting quietly awaiting her turn to be mugged? Then and only then she embarks on her screaming and fighting performance? How convenient. As in, "I'll take things that never happened for $800, Alex."
