If doctors are making less, who will pay for their malpractice insurance? My dad was a general practitioner (family doctor) and simply practiced without it. He had a little sign in each examining room saying he didn't carry it because it cost too much, with the figures included. Sorry I don't remember the figures, but the cost of the insurance really pissed him off, he thought the cost was way too high and a ripoff. He also pointed out on that little sign he didn't carry it because he'd have to pass the cost on to his patients.Because he didn't carry it, he could no longer deliver babies in the local hospitals ( a new rule) and he'd been doing that for literally generations--he'd deliver a baby, the child would grow up and have a baby, and so on. I know he missed it. He wrote off a lot of bills and didn't charge over what Medicare paid except for stuff it didn't pay for--some blood tests for example. He'd then charge the patients what the lab charged and no more.Yes, my dad was unique. But the point remains--who will pay the massive amounts for malpractice insurance? Because of course, most doctors increase their bills to pay for that cost.If I missed something in Bernie's plan, please let me know.

I think we already know the answer to that one.
