"Pope Francis was, without question, the best pope ever . . . he stands out as an extraordinarily kind and decent person who cared about poor people, social justice, and the planet.
Vance is a literal butthair demon. Why did they let that vile creature into the Vatican? Don't they have security, exorcists, and others to keep those things away?
My hope is that in those last few minutes of his life that he had to waste meeting the Couchfucker, his only words to him were, "Go get your fucking shinebox!"
I am essentially anti-religion and that includes ALL of it and it ESPECIALLY includes political power hiding behind the imprimatur of religion
Let me ask you this: Do you think criticism of Israel and their policies on Gaza is antiemetic? Remember Israel isn't a religion, its a nation...
Pope Francis was the most progressive Pope in the history of popes...It would be NICE if his replacement held the same ideologies. But the VATICAN is the seat of great power and wealth, it ALSO does not represent all Christians... and NO powerful wealthy organization is safe from the corrupting influence of wealth and power
Anti-semitic. Learn the correct spelling before you throw that word at anyone. No, I am not antisemitic. I merely have a problem with any country that engages in genocide, and that is what Israel is doing. Standing up for injustice transcends religion. Bringing it into the picture is disingenuous; there are many Jews who protest against Israeli policies of oppression and genocide.
My contention is that JV lectured Francis on the “right” way to be a Catholic and the Pope got so fed up, he said “Jesus, take me now!” And the Lord obliged.
But seriously, I’m a cradle Catholic who’s been in a tenuous relationship with the church for years. I love the traditions, the liturgy and many of the people. The institution, especially the American bishops, I want nothing to do with.
But I loved Francis. He genuinely loved people, and creation, and he came as close as a Pope ever has to actually following the teachings of Jesus Christ.
I was a member of a Jesuit parish when he became Pope. I cried, honestly.
He was flawed, like all humans, but he used his office to promote ideas that his predecessors didn't really address.
I'm happy his last day on Earth was Easter Sunday, and that he spent it among the crowds in Rome. And, honestly, I'd be a little disappointed if he hadn't tried to reach Vance in some way.
Francis was a "necessary" Pope. The cold war was over, and the last two guys .. the Pole and the German were both still haunted by the European WWII and aftermath when the Catholic Church had become largely a global southern institution. Even if the next Pope is a European (even an Italian), it's a very different world and a very different RCC.
Don’t give this importance to Vance. He has none.
1. He has no real decision power (as a US VP) - it was a personal visit
2. He does not stand for anything morally nor politically
3. The Pope already showed his lack of esteem to him and to Trump a couple of times.
Try and think logically.
1. Is it that the Pope’s father was influenced by Vance’s visit ?
Or just that Vance had the opportunity to see the Pope’s before his death ?
Who tells Vance was the last Pope’s meeting ?
2. The meeting lasted the time of a snapshot.
He met with the Pope as long as Trump entered Saint John Church or Kristi Noem entered the Cecot in El Salvador.
You Americans like feeling important (as your Master) but you are it only in your own eyes - and please cut this crap about the Pope.

"As far as popes go, he wasn’t too bad."
Amen

I also hope Vance was lectured on the sin of bearing false witness against one's neighbor.
Unsurprisingly, the morning paper had a full-page photo of Pope Francis.
Sticking out of the paper was a flyer for a clearance sale on couches.
"Maybe it’s weird to think of people as being 'sinners'"
We can find proxy concepts: "Blessed are the fuckups, the losers, the weirdos, the stupid, the brainwashed..." (Jesus really loved the fuckups.)
My hope is that in those last few minutes of his life that he had to waste meeting the Couchfucker, his only words to him were, "Go get your fucking shinebox!"
The next pope will make Ratsinger look like a saint by comparison.
Why do you say that?
I think the Vatican will want to align with the Fascist trump administration
Gee, do you also hate Muslims?

Some would say his sins were blown up out of proportion.

I love that the Pope put dressmakers, carnies, and construction workers in the same sentence. How did he even know about the gig economy?
EVERY pope should be a social justice pope.
Many people are saying the Pontifical Swiss Guard have launched an investigation into Vance having been directly involved in the Pope's death.

For a Pope, he was a raging liberal. Hope they don't swing back to an uberconservative.
Ta, Robyn. Yes.
