That's not how numbers work.

Yes. That was my point.

Resurrect the sensible solutions now that the furor over buyback programs has begun.

Hope it had at least an 8 lb pull and a floating pin.

Thank you astute Texan! P. S. I hate Chris Bell.

We wouldn't use helos. We'd use drones. You got something that can take out a drone at 2500 feet, have at it.

I'm just getting back to this, apologies for the delay. I don't think--I mean, of course I don't consider myself ignorant. This is not a 'well the meteor could hit us situation', I'm sorry to report. I'm prepared for more of a Rwanda situation--did anyone think that a slaughter of hundreds of thousands, perhaps more than a million, mostly by machete, could occur in the mid- late-1990's? No.

And it really did happen overnight--I cannot recommend Philip Gourevitch's We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families: Stories from Rwanda enough. Neighbour turned on neighbour, friend on friend, spouses on each other.

So I do not think it unreasonable, given the current state of American affairs, to be just a wee bit prepared for the unthinkable--paranoid, even. And I am counting myself and my family among the lucky, in that having multiple citizenships affords me a relatively easy escape given time. That last caveat is why I keep my firearms.

Well I’m sorry you live in fear. I don’t. In 53 years I have never ONCE felt the need for a gun, and I have lived in cities, deep in the country, and in towns big and small. I have absolutely not the slightest iota of fear that the US will descend into Rwandan-style carnage. And while I’d be OK with it if provisions were established to allow some to keep guns (suitably registered, licensed, and with certificates of training and insurance), I personally think we’d be better off as a nation if ALL guns were completely banned and confiscated.

I’ll respect your culture when it stops killing mine (I.e. people who don’t want to be killed).

You can always wear your T-shirts in the same circumstances that I wear mine: To sleep in.

If you look at that Cruz thread (I know -- why would you want to?), you'll see that like practically every gun-humper ever, he completely omits that first part of the amendment when he quotes it.

There's also nothing in the Second Amendment that says guns should be easy to get, or that there can't be a national gun registry.

Sorry, SER, but Alyssa Milano will always be Samantha Micelli.

On paper, Julian IS a stronger candidate. But Beto has a way to get into people's hearts. He was at VA Tech last week and was booked into one of the smaller auditoriums there. The line started forming at least 2.5 hours before his scheduled appearance and snaked all the way around the Square. When he heard there was no hope of everyone getting in over an hour before, he came outside and talked to them. This is the kind of campaigner he is, and he doesn't stop. He was down there talking to them *personally* until he had to go into the auditorium for his scheduled appearance to talk to those who did get in.

Beto isn't going to run for Senate this time. Get over it. You've already got a strong candidate in MJ Hegar, and I think he'll campaign all out for her, or whoever wins the primary. He'll probably take on Rafael Cruz again next time and leave him on the trash heap of history.

Thinking bout these things during morning walkies..I do believe we've reached a tipping point here. As the shootings increase, so too does our collective level of being fed the fuck up. Ammosexuals need to understand that first of all, yes, we are coming for your murder machines, and first of all again, things will not go back to where you can quietly amass an entire arsenal fit for overthrowing a minor government in your basement until about half past never (or until repubs manage to re-take the whole of Washington, which amounts to the same thing).

Their best bet would be to nod and smile and go along with the reasonable regulations being proposed now; because the longer we have to wait before changes are made - and they WILL BE made - the less likely the majority of us are going to agree to letting you hold on to your metal weenuses. Want to ensure we do, in fact, work to repeal 2A and come for ALL your guns? Drag this out another decade or two, let hundreds, thousands, more innocent people be slaughtered to prop up your fragile masculinity. Or do the right thing now; its their choice. Unfortunately, I think we all know which path they're going to choose.
