I wonder if the reason household spending is up could be attributed to a feeling of existential crisis due to the traumas of the pandemic and world events, that has left some feeling they might as well enjoy the fruits of their labors before the whole planet implodes? They won’t need savings when the end days come. I often wonder if those same feelings in someone with mental illness could lead them to see the future as untenable and to save the innocent from suffering they enact the murder/suicide of their entire families. I’m just saying all of the doomsday events we are seeing can cause mass hysteria and make anarchy more likely.

It wasn't a "fire alarm" as far as I can tell, it was a "door alarm", ie a security breach where the cops come with their pistols, not the fire department with their hoses. Nobody claiming a "break the glass" emergency. Oh shut up nobody cares about the details, it's the narrative stupid.

The endowments will, literally, pay for themselves.

"Vicki Hollub, CEO of U.S. oil and gas producer Occidental Petroleum

, said these were “really exciting times” for the oil and gas industry and suggested a major challenge for fossil fuel companies was working to regain the trust of society."

Nice try there Vicki. The fossil fuel industry over the last hundred years has never had the trust of society. Black lung disease, smog, air pollution, global warming, anti union violence, holding economies for ransom, wars, are a few of the reasons. The "oil and gas industry" is getting desperate now that alternative energy production is growing and becoming economically viable and permanently threatens demand for fossil fuels. They've been lying to society about causing climate change for 50 years and show no signs of stopping. That's not going to gain much trust anywhere.

New York landlords tried to get rent control legislation dumped and the Supreme Court said nah we don't even want to hear it. That was very good, losing rent control would have destroyed NYC.

Thanks for that Mother Jones link, I was unaware of this about the Trump Glock fondling photo:

This store that Trump promoted supplied one of the weapons used in the racist shooting last month at a Dollar General store in Jacksonville, Florida.

At the time, it was noted that if NYC was still a working harbor, Sully would not have found clear space to land flight 1549 on the Hudson.

Also as far as COVID vaccinations, the CDC has now said that all my residents are no longer up to date as of 9/25. Problem is that they only gave vaccines to large chains and not to any of the long term care pharmacies so there is no vaccine to give. In the webinar on our reporting requirements they actually said that “zero percent vaccination rates are expected”.

Then why tf wouldn’t you just give us a few extra weeks before changing the up to date definition?

"Have you gotten your COVID-19 booster yet?"

I tried yesterday, along with the RSV vaccine and one of the pneumonia vaccines ( the Prevnar one ). All three were out of stock at my local Walgreen's. I was, however, able to get my flu vaccine.

Oh yeah - one of the two prescriptions I wanted to refill was also out of stock.

The pharmacist told me to wait until Wednesday or Thursday to try again,
