As a devout atheist, religion has nothing to say to me. I am too much a pragmatist, realist not to mention a cynic for religion to do me any good. However, that very phrase was going through my head as I wrote that reply. It also reminds me of a joke told many years ago by the late, great Myron Cohen.

A man comes home early from work, suspecting his wife of having an affair. Searching the house, he opens a closet and finds a man standing inside.

"What are you doing there?", shouts the husband, to which the man calmly replies, "Everybody's gotta be someplace."

Ha! As for Buddhism, it is not so much a religion as it is a philosophy of non-attachment. I don't see it as being in conflict with atheism.
