My tech experience is that female leaders are as prone to mistakes and success as males. So they might as well be given equal opportunities.

''Before Brewer, a former Starbucks and Sam’s Club executive, joined Walgreens...''

So she went from one racist criminal organisation to an even more racist criminal organisation and then to a third?

And we are supposed to feel sorry for her?

Sure it would be nice if there were more black women as CEO's but do we want them aiding the enemy?

Ta, Stephen. Walgreens bought Duane Reade, which has entirely lost its NYC-centric feel.

I dislike that this happened to her, but I also remember that the "We are going to cave in and and stop making mifepristone available in states that are passing anti-abortion bills" decision happened on her watch.

Ummm--I'm no broker, but I'm pretty sure that SCREAMS "correction", even before the pandemic.

Simple fix for the turds like Miller suing companies like Kellogs. All they need to do is say that they will remove ALL hiring quota rules and go 100% with the choices made by the hiring committees..... AND..... they also will be manning those hiring committees 100% with females and people of color. No one could have ANY problem with that, since we all know that prejudice is gone from our great country... right?

"Loser white men think that they are still entitled to all things, despite being loser white men, because they are white men."

(This flows like a waterfall of entitlement with white women/straight people/etc., but the general idea holds that if someone doesn't get something, it's because of the others who are "beneath" them, not themselves.)

I wonder what's this means to all federal procurements? 8A is a large part of the FAR. Many high level Feds (ex. SESers) are rated on number of 8a contracts.

"Walgreens also agreed to pay more than $10 billion last December to several states in a settlement related to its alleged role in the opioid crisis."

While I'm ALWAYS for the 'big boys' taking a hit, I'm still confused as to why a PHARMACY is liable for filling prescriptions that were made by a doctor...The LAST thing you fucking want is pharmacists deciding what drug prescriptions they will honor and which ones they won't..

And were there ANY doctors who got busted for misusing their scrip pads so to speak

I just don't see how CVS or Walgreens would be on the hook for this crisis...Clearly I'm missing some piece of vital info

There are thousands of doctors sitting in jail for opioid prescription offenses... and the demographics are about as dismal as you'd imagine (I believe it was over 70% minority) . Credit where credit is due... Joe Rogan pointed this out about 2-3 years ago, after the initial settlement with the Sackler fucks.

While the videos of explaining equity to children with the race analogy are good - it paints a dismal picture (sound bite friendly), that our loving racist reight wingers like to glom onto.

TLDR: White choads have a lot more opportunities to RACE competitively at the 400lb level - they shouldn't cry when they set a smaller division for just the 110lb folks that they aren't allowed to compete at (since there are a lot fewer lower division competitions available, and an infinite number of super-heavyweight bouts).

For them, the hiring process (and in the perfect world), should be based on accomplishments, but also how much this individual will align with the strategic priorities of a company. Usually this means hiring based on qualification alone (best for the job). However, what these choadburgers fail to grasp is that skill alone is a VERY small part of executive level hiring. Even at the skilled worker level, while skill plays a big part - it's not the WHOLE picture. MORE critical at these levels, is a diversity in viewpoints, backgrounds, and opinions. The idea of YES MEN, can bake an organization into a corner they can never escape from - and thus, the FOUNDATION of DEI - is expansion of viewpoints to prevent corporate cultural stagnation.

You can be the best CIS OLD WHITE DUDE in the world with the strategy that will make that company 50,000,000x more in profits if they hire you, so hands down the best (and no one would deny this). Maybe you were even raised from a poor background in a foreign country (and so empathize with other minority groups). NONE of that is going to give you the perception, insight, experiences, and overcoming adversity that a BLACK WOMAN is going to bring to the group. ESPECIALLY if you sell consumer products and have a diversity of buyers for your things. At some point, you have enough "OLD CIS WHITE DUDE" perspectives; and need to bring in these other individuals to help balance that out.

Think how fubar this is. Playtex (you know, the brand that makes 90% of their money selling women things - sure, men can and do use their oils and suntan lotions) - but 90% of their clients are women. Yet their CEO has been MALE for the past - well, since it was founded in 1969. You know what's even worse - its board, and top execs are predominantly white dudes. How the hell are they able to understand their clients if their leadership isn't even representative of their buyers.

Here is where it gets wonky. Yes, running the race there is usually only one winner - and for these hoedaddies, they're acting as if there is only ONE role available for ANYONE EVER, and so when they loose out for "diversity" qualifications - their heads explode. Problem is, they don't have one race - they are the varsity cross country team from Barrow Alaska and go all over the place in all the different races. Those people who qualify for those diversity initiatives - they're stuck in a wheelchair on the intramural team, blind, in the middle of winter - and only have a couple of events in the local gym they can participate in. Hoedaddies who get mad at these things, are the same folks who would be mad they weren't allowed to participate in the indoor races - because it's unfair to them in the ONE race that is available to others.

And then the throuple starts happening in fourseomes - a company needs diversity of thought because (clients, competitive advantage, and not wanting to cock block themselves) - so their requirements aren't just for someone who is qualified, but someone who is qualified but also moves forward this diversity of thought (see aligning with the strategic priorities that someone NOT diverse wouldn't be able to provide). So no matter how WHITE you are, you'd not fill that more important requirement of diversity of thought - and that sets EVERYONE off the WOKE DEEP END with cries of reverse-racism. So then companies are forced to hide their DEI initiatives, and overall diversity doesn't increase as much as it should - they end up hiring more "SUPER QUALIFIED" and missing the diversity mark, and because of the whole (starting the race behind bit) - and SUPER QUALIFIED raising the bar (HIRE THE BEST ON SKILL ALONE) - a lot of qualified but not UBER QUALIFIED (including those self-same ubermenches) also loose out.

DEI gives everyone a fighting chance, but it means that for some of those available positions, it CANT keep going to just the most overly qualified WHIDE DUDE. It means that some of those seats are reserved for qualified NON-WHITE DUDES - the WHIDE DUDES still have ample opportunities for the other seats at the organization - as well as a TON of other seats at a ton of other organizations. Those who need the DEI to stay in the running - well, there aren't as many DEI qualified seats, and so not as many races they can be competitive in (they still are awesome - don't get me wrong - but because they aren't as UBER-SUPER-MAN as some of their WHIDE DUDE counterparts - due to a lifetime of struggling and not as many opportunities over their life, they loose the race through no fault of their own).
