I dunno. This summer, I was in Trail, Creston, and Cranbrook for baseball tournaments, and I saw an awful lot of M's paraphernalia. I saw more people wearing old Expos caps than I saw wearing Jays gear.
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support, protect, and defend the Constitution and Government of the United States and the Constitution and Government of the State of Florida; that I am duly qualified for employment as a classroom teacher in this state; that I will well and faithfully perform the duties of a classroom teacher in a professional, independent, objective, and nonpartisan manner; that I will uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and professional ethics; that I will foster a respectful learning environment for all students, which promotes critical thinking, civic responsibility, and lifelong learning; and that I will serve as a positive role model in both conduct and character, so help me God.”
Near the end there, if I hadn't read the description, I would have just assumed that nice Alabama woman was being perpwalked because when they asked her who she was, the costume made it hard for them to hear clearly, "I'm a peanut. 'Cause I'm a bit roasted, get it? Like PEANUTS!"
The BBC's Verify team of sleuths investigate Grok's claims that No Kings footage is all from 2017. And finds.. Dun Dun... Big reveal... that Grok may have been fibbing a little.
So....shooting over a major US highway is "safe" according to Vance spox. Course he said that before the exercise, which of course lead to shit dropping on the highway, so not precisely safe. Concept of a safe.
I may, or may have not, worked in a place with an "impact area". That is, the place where they make shit go boom. Impact areas are no gos for many many many things because "make shit go boom". Years ago, during range shut down, they would allow the archaeologists to roam about it so long as they did not dig. My husband recorded lots of sites in there! And then one day he and boss man found a 500lb bomb that had not finished its job, yet (which EOD did not let them hang around to see detonated, because safety).
After that, we were no longer even allowed to walk around in there.
Point: no one with two functioning brain cells who has ever worked with the military thought that shooting shit over a us higway was "safe"
I used to work at a ski resort. We used artillery shells for avalanche control. Most of the time they go boom. Now and then, you get a dud. Every spring we had to "sweep" the mountain for unexploded ordnance. We never found any, but one time a Boy Scout was hiking around and found one that went high and wide of the target. He brought it in to the Forest Service office. It was a still very much live 105mm Howitzer projectile. It was found more than a mile outside the ski area boundary. Oops!
There’s a reason ranges are isolated areas like islands. There’s more than one story of some poor bastard on a sailboat being overflown by a Harpoon. Thank god for low radar profile.
Some 40 years ago, there was a “bomb off” between USAF, USMC, USN, and ANG at the concrete ships in Chesapeake Bay. The USCG has dozens of runabouts with blue lights holding spectator boats back about a half mile. Lots of rafts. Looked like Lake Havasu.
The Navy pilots dropped their first salvo and the inert bombs hit the target bang-on. Loud cheers and horns!
Eventually the ANG flew in and their bomb loads went everywhere.
The CG runabouts began flying around waving boats back further. A real circus as boats began scrambling to put another half mile between them and the targets.
I have seen first hand the projectiles that fall short of target (Saw a tank round in an tree once fer example. It had been there a long time and the tree grew around it. Was wild). This was outside the impact area XD Lots of bits and pieces of things also.
This one fell on a CHP vehicle. Back the blue, eh?
The lady from our HOA board is a nut. Yesterday I had to meet with her along with the only other board member who has a job to “rehearse “ for tonight’s annual meeting. She is SO anxious about the whole thing and filled up our inboxes overnight with “don’t forget to read the whole script twice! Highlight your portions! Speak up!”
She is blown away that I don’t seem nervous. Why the hell would I be nervous (also I don’t need to rehearse, but whatever). I do feel bad because at every meeting she gets both touchy about her part and also overly nervous—like a mediocre actor who wants to be really important.
Oh, you're gonna have to deal with the amateur rules lawyer, aren't you? Do you have an overbearing chairman (it's almost always a man) who tries to use Roberts Rules to squelch dissent?
Our Robert’s Rules person is the past president, who sits right in front and will just comment on everyone—“you need to read such and such into the record…” I think the rest of the board is scared of her, but again—what’s she going to do to me, and she can run for the board if she wants to.
(She served for EVER and then dramatically quit last year, because she figured out it’s more fun to complain and not have to do anything).
Started reading the non-comments and replying before wishing the Wonketariat a very good morning! I get to go to a fancy laundromat today because the winter comforters are too big for my washer and dryer. Oh, joy! Oh, rapture!
When I was a child, and my aunt Martha was babysitting my brother and me (of is it I?), she had to take us with her to the laundromat. Somehow, she made that fun. No one else I know could do that, but Aunt Martha had that gift - making something mundane fun.
And now you Canucks get the penultimate laugh. Until you face Shohei, and certain annihilation.
Cubs fan here. Just watching for the baseball. Please try not to get swept!
"Try not to suck" seemed to work for us in 2016
Then again, it's Shohei Ohtani

America used to export jazz and hope.
Now it’s exporting tariffs and tantrums.
Every empire ages the same way—first the myths go gray,
then the citizens start arguing about kilometers.
Blessed be the ones who stay home and still know the score.
We have TABZ SIGN!
Hmm, WHAR TARBS?
They're heeeeerrrrreeeee....
Tabs, that is.
Maybe Tabs will be posted at 7 Central Time?
One last Oglaf before TABS, also SFW:
"Old Saint Nick"

Now you know who really makes his toys.
Tabs be LATE
It was scheduled for the correct time. I suspect the problem is due to carry-over from the earlier AWS outage.
I think it is just monday and Tabs don't wanna get out of bed
Don't blame it
And just like that, the anxiety & dread of every single Monday of my childhood is right here in front of me.
Wait, it's monday. Mariners losing was not just a bad dream, the. ouch.
Whirling arsfardel in Florida (Republican, of course) wants teachers to swear an oath before beginning their career:
https://www.tampabay.com/news/education/2025/10/15/lawmaker-wants-teachers-take-an-oath-before-entering-classroom/
Not reading that. Also, it is a specific oath or does "I swear I will kill a motherfucker if one of you little shits annoys me one more time!" count?
Enforced loyalty rarely works out for the authoritarian.
Read the text of the proposed 'oath.'
That oath seems ... uh ... not in the MAGA mold. "Critical thinking"? That sounds really woke ...
Yeah, I know. If it makes it to the Lege, expect "revisions" that better conform to the Fascist Party line.
Well, first it needs moar jeebus. And then moar "MurriKKKa is the bestest nation EVAH"
I think they do the latter thing in the mandatory 'Americanism vs Communism' instruction module.
Yes, that is a thing in the Florida high school curriculum.
Is it all about no DEI and No bad mouthing anything america has ever done?
It does involve the words "By Ed Sheeran's Crusty Nutsack"
Amusingly, no:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support, protect, and defend the Constitution and Government of the United States and the Constitution and Government of the State of Florida; that I am duly qualified for employment as a classroom teacher in this state; that I will well and faithfully perform the duties of a classroom teacher in a professional, independent, objective, and nonpartisan manner; that I will uphold the highest standards of academic integrity and professional ethics; that I will foster a respectful learning environment for all students, which promotes critical thinking, civic responsibility, and lifelong learning; and that I will serve as a positive role model in both conduct and character, so help me God.”
wait.
The constitution and the government?
The fuck?
This ain't vague enough to fire people for no cause surely not. The so help me god bit is a nice touch also
"and Ed Sheeran's crusty nuitsack"
LOL
Eh oh.
' Snapchat, Roblox and several banks among major apps down in Amazon internet services outage '
Many of the world's biggest websites and apps are down due to an outage affecting Amazon Web Services
Snapchat, Duolingo, Zoom and Roblox have all been impacted, as well as customers of banks including Lloyds and Halifax - here's what else has been hit
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is Amazon's cloud computing division, and its infrastructure underpins millions of large companies' websites and platforms
AWS says it is now "seeing significant signs of recovery" and most requests should now be succeeding

"Grok eventually corrected its claim - and even began using BBC Verify as a source for its correction after a post on X by one of our team."
AI is new rogue intern.
Eventually corrected its claim
That makes it more intelligent than much of the rightwing media and even some of the rest of the media.
edit: Also, this is why all signs should have the year on them
...Hold up a copy of that morning's newspaper...oh, wait. That's hostages.
heh now I want one that goes "Elon's lying to you- it's 2025"
"Free Speech Absolutist" means able to use hate speech but not the truth.
Do people not know that "Hey Man Nice Shot" is a song about a politician committing suicide on live TV?
I thought this was general knowledge.
After looking it up, I remember the event but never heard the song. Got it queued up now.
Me too, since I seen it.
I'm ashamed to admit now long I thought it was "Hey Man Nice Shirt".
Same!
I must confess that I have never heard of either the song or the event it's based on, so here's one "people" that didn't.
Wait until we get to "Fifi Goes Pop".
If I have too many beers, I sometimes forget that the Wonkettariat isn't still a bunch of Gen-X malcontents.
I'm a Gen x mal content and I am still not sure I know this song.
Course, I suck at remembering names so it is probable I do know it, just not by the title
I recall that incident; the news showed the footage before it could be edited.
R. BUD DWYER
Yep!
Ol' Bud was decidedly NOT all clean on OP-SEC.

Very similar here—sometimes I realize how many of my big life decisions were based on spite…
