You are welcome to your opinion, such as it is. I certainly don't want it. "Time flies," as your name says. You are more than welcome to do the same.

The PAB predicted this. He said if the government can come after him, they can come after Menendez.

Maybe he's confusing bullion with bouillon, carrots in soup versus gold bars in jackets. His defense might be diminished capacity?! His capacity certainly should be diminished.

I love gold bouillon, a rich chicken broth or consommé with some herbs and maybe a few veggies. I can’t blame Menendez for that. When I was a kid and had a cold, a hot mug would really help.

"the orphaned gold bars he supports."

Oh my... You have a certain way of turning a phrase that I really appreciate. LOL

i iwonder if he can claim mental illness (not that i think he should scapegoat) - all the stashes etc make me think of hoarding

DemoCat's avatar

If he’s resorting to Trumpian persecution fantasies, mental illness is his best shot.

I’m glad to hear about those polls.

I hope his nepo son crashes and burns as well. And the governors wife. What a state.

Dude looks like a Peter Figuren laughing spitting head. (google it)

Oh man. I googled it. Reminds me of the antique toys at our local antique store. They have several booths with toys from the 1940s and 50s, and some of those toys are downright creepy and racist. Lots of little blackface toys and unflattering characterizations, drunk winos swinging from lampposts or holding a mug of beer, and other very strange things to give a child. We did fight two massive wars during that era, so maybe the toy makers were distracted or making K rations.

"God, he’s pathetic. I hope this isn’t a preview of his actual legal strategy."{

I kinda hope it IS...If you get my drift...

"why would the Department of Justice under an honest Democratic president want to destroy another Democrat?"

Exactly...especially with such a slim majority...Pragmatism would insist on putting up with as much as you could before it was too much (now it is too much)

belfryo's avatar

yep...

Here's a little trip into 'Oppositeland'

Menendez is doubling down and holding firm despite ALL the evidence against him and several years ago Al Fraken unceremoniously stepped down after literally doing NOTHING wrong JUST to avoid too much controversy during a contentious time

I don't think he'd do that now...

NH is for 🦡🍄🐍's avatar

I guess the only real difference in this respect is the level of shame the two parties are willing to suck up before saying “This is too much.” Repugs have a much higher threshold. See “Assmouth, Donald J.”

belfryo's avatar

yes when the shame is deserved...Franken had nothing TO be ashamed of...

"Recent internal polling from Rep. Andy Kim’s campaign has him well ahead of New Jersey First Lady Tammy Murphy with Menendez managing just single digit support."

I've got a single digit for Menendez...

I would love to see Andy Kim in the senate

I'm of the age where that name still makes me do a double take.

The best thing Bob Menendez ever did was to sire Alicia Menendez, one of the best interviewers on MSNBC. She has rightly stayed away from any reporting on her father, but given where she works and the insightful questioning she does on other issues, I believe we are safe in assuming what she thinks of Daddy's choices!

Listen, you little troll, you *are* the government. That's why the government is coming after you!

I was hoping he'd do a speech about how he realizes he's transgressed and he's oh-so-very sorry and dismayed that he's embarrassed his party—kind of like a Jimmy Swaggart moment.

Color me disappointed.
