Brave Anti-Gay Dudes Hanging Out In Target Lady Bathrooms, For The Kids

They're also checking for penguins on the telly

Watch out, lady shoppers! There may be men dressing up as women and coming into the ladies' biffy at your local Target, and if there are, chances are they're crusading morons from the American Family Association out to prove that a well-concealed man could in fact come into a women's room! It's like a James O'Keefe video come to life!

In an interview Monday with Breitbart News Daily, AFA director of government affairs Sandy Rios explained that volunteers have been "testing" Target's policy of allowing people to use the restroom that conforms with their gender identity, by sending men into women's rooms. We'll assume she means men dressed as women, but she didn't really specify:

Host Stephen Bannon thundered that there's nothing "inclusive" about Target's policy at all, because in reality, the company is

trying to exclude people who are decent, hard-working people that don’t want their four-year-old daughter to have to go into a bathroom with a guy with a beard in a dress.

Bannon didn't explain how he knows trans people don't work for a living, but you just know they're all on welfare. They probably get free Obama transgender phones too. Also, why is it always a "four-year-old daughter" in these hypothetical horror stories? Did the wingnuts hold focus groups to determine four-year-olds elicited the most sympathy from panicked family-values types?

Rios was shocked, shocked to reveal that there are "no barriers" to people walking into unlocked bathrooms, although we should note that in our own shopping experience, we have never seen a chain-store restroom without stalls that have doors on them. Back in ancient history, when we worked retail and had to mop the ladies' rooms (and were, thus, a man -- or at least a pimply teen boy -- in the women's room. We always knocked first), we also noticed this obsession stores have with putting doors on the stalls. Rios found this very disturbing:  

I think there’s no question that when you say that there are no barriers in the bathroom, and that if men or women feel like they are men or women, the opposite of how they are equipped, and you have no restrictions, the net effect will be that people will not be stopped. We’ve already had people testing this, going into Targets and men trying to go into bathrooms. There is absolutely no barrier.

And so the chief concern, even more than just, I think, trauma, for certainly little girls of having men dressed like women coming in their bathrooms, the chief concern of the American Family Association is the predators who will take advantage.

We're honestly unsure what sort of "barriers" Rios is talking about here. A Junk Monitor posted at every restroom door, to examine the genitalia of each person who enters? That would surely reduce the trauma of using a public toilet. So far, the rate of transgender people molesting people in restrooms stubbornly remains zero. Maybe the AFA will start sending men into ladies' restrooms to commit some sexual assaults, just to make the point that it can happen.
