BREAKING: Lobbyist Writes Check. . . TO CHARITY
We all know that the aftermath of Katrina has not been without moments of grace. Today's WaPo offers the most incredible so far, telling the story of Frederick L. Webber, president of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, who last week threw the latest onslaught of fundraising requests in the trash, "drafted a large check to help families displaced by Hurricane Katrina and decided that an imperative of his vocation -- political giving -- had finally gone too far." Astounding. It may be the first time the existence of lobbyist's heart has been confirmed without recourse to an autopsy.
Oh, and if Webber owes you any money, you might want to cash that check now.
