Mormons are almost gestapo like with the honor code. There was some football player at BYU that had one of their secret police narc on him by providing photos of said player's trip to a strip club in Vegas where he was photographed with bottles of alcohol and strippers. My guess is that with this woman, she either was living with someone of the opposite sex, had alcohol in her place, or they could have info that she has had men back before. Obviously, it is just an attempt to discredit her for the trial. Since she may be going before a Mormon jury, phrases like "She got expelled/is under investigation for honor code violations" make it easy to paint her as less of a victim.

It probably was more with the intent of helping his buddy's case since it will look worse to a jury that the victim was expelled/under investigation due to honor code violations.

Yes, there's nothing special about individual eligibility for student loans. Although my understanding is the interface with the loan program is the student's responsibility and not integrated with university financial services as at most schools. BYU is a private school with religious focus and those have a larger degree of independence than public schools with or those with secular focus.

More interesting is BYU's involvement with federal and corporate grants. For example, see this university page: http://cpms.byu.edu/project....

Even more reason to lock his sorry ass up. That, if there's such a thing as an honest Mormon DA in Utah, would potentially add an obstruction of justice charge, malfeasance of office and possibly a felony conspiracy charge if he had any conversation with his buddy about what he was going to do.

Speaking of, would the prosecution have the right to seize the documents from BYU? Since it seems that LDS has their fingers in many funeral potatoes, it may be like trying the crime against the church in a theocracy.

Dear Utah,

Thank you for your application to join the Suckiest States In The Union League. We note, with admiration, your sucky history of religious persecution, abuse of basic human rights and treatment of women.

Regrettably, we cannot admit you at this time because we have certain standards that you just do not measure up to. Simply put...you have NO status as a former slave state made to relinquish that status by Abraham Lincoln.

We wish you well in your future endeavors.

Yours truly,

The Carolinas, Florida, Texas, Alabama and Mississippi

This is horrible but not as horrible as the pastor in Kentucky who defended one of his employees who sexually assaulted a 13 year old at knife point. The Pastor said it takes two to tango.

So what's the difference between BYU's so called Honor Code and Sharia Law that rules women be whipped or even be stoned to death after being raped?

Let me ge this straight. Young female gets raped, goes to police to report crime, alleged rapist who works for the sheriff gave complaint file to BYU, BYU opens an investigation from the honor code office. Whoever gave the file to BYU should be prosecuted for somethings, right? Can BYU be in trouble for accepting the file? Are there no grown ups to step in ? And BYU doesn't have to give the victim her transcripts? Really makes me want to throw up.
