Bush, Defying the Word of God
Pat Robertson's revelations about his pre-invasion misgivings have drawn some controversy today, as Robertson appears to have been channeling the one voice that Bush actually admits to hearing in his head:
"I had deep misgivings about this war, deep misgivings. And I was trying to say, 'Mr. President, you better prepare the American people for casualties.' 'Oh, no, we're not going to have any casualties.' 'Well,' I said, 'it's the way it's going to be.' And so, it was messy. The lord told me it was going to be, A, a disaster and, B, messy."
But, you know, Lord is always such a fucking worrywart about these things, no wonder Bush didn't listen. He's always, "rivers of blood, rain of fire, quagmire in Falluja... blah blah blah..." Bush was all: "Whatever." The Lord and Colin Powell: State Department weenies.
