Bush's Final Word on the Amnesty International Report
Thanks to those of you who wrote in to "correct" our new intern's spelling in his transcript of Bush's remarks this morning, but you'll have to address your corrections elsewhere, namely, president@whitehouse.gov. As you may recall, Bush was asked about the "modern Gulag" report put out by Amnesty International. He replied (according to the WH transcript):
It seemed like to me they based some of their decisions on the word of -- and the allegations -- by people who were held in detention, people who hate America, people that had been trained in some instances to disassemble -- that means not tell the truth. And so it was an absurd report.
To give the President some credit, terrorists arealso trained to take things apart. We wouldn't dissemble about that.
