I am super late to this party, but Byron Donalds is, straight up, a dick.

Still kills me that this is the best they got—a vague reference to helping the poor guy out. And giving Kushner a pass is just icing on the fetid cake.

Context is irrelevant to Rethgulicons. These scandal-mongering fucking swine are cherry picking these familial exchanges regarding Hunter's financial and life struggles and excising aspects that appeal to them for their own purposes.

Just like they read those Buybulls they're always sanctimoniously referencing.

Last time I checked "bearing false witness" is supposed to send you to hell directly.

Funny that the ten commandments that the Republicans want post everywhere are silent about homosexuality and abortion but they're pretty clear about lying.

Yes, it is possible for Byron Donalds, a man who pleaded no contest to a felony, to be stupider than he looks.

This is really an insight into their, er, preparation.

They are clearly just re-treading stuff from the interwebs without checking the primary source because, hey, who needs all that fact-checking if PatriotEagleUSA1776 says that he has PROOF!

Lookit - I'm not as sanguine about all this as most here are. That this not land punches on Joe that can cut into the sliver votes we need in battleground states is far too dependent on how the same clickbait media that just hand-waved away Trump speaking to non-union auto workers at the behest of management while Joe walked an actual picket line chooses to present this "inquiry" for my liking. But if this is the best foot the R's can put forward my calmness level is going up...

What I get from this is that Jill holds the line on tough-love and that Joe is potentially more pliable on helping his kids. There is no judgement in that statement, just that "Mom" had drawn a line, while maybe Joe could budge it a bit, with some time and encouragement?

If this had been a Trump family text chain, it would have been "fuck him and I hope he dies in a river - the kids can starve, and they don't need school".

Of course Byron Donalds will argue that getting free money from rich families is legitimate, since getting payoffs from rich families (and oligarchs) is exactly the Republican party business model

It’s the self-assuredness of the toadying Byron Donaldses of the world that gets me. He has to know, deep down, that he’s wrong, but instead of coming up for air, he just doubles down, digging deeper. No shame, regret, or conscience. The GOP truly is the sunk cost fallacy party.

I will repeat this again. Despite everyone, including many Democrats, considering it axiomatic that Hunter was involved in serious criminal activity in his business dealings, five years of DOJ investigations and the GOP kangaroo committee have shown no crimes there. All they have are failing to pay taxes for a couple of years and a violation on a gun purchase. The first one rarely prosecuted if taxes are paid and the second only prosecuted if the gun is used in committing a crime.

So not only is Joe Biden not involved in accepting bribes or any other criminal activity, none of Hunter's business deals have yet to be found illegal. Former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is making big bucks sitting on corporate boards where his only qualification is his name and connections. Just like Hunter and Burisma, except while Joe obviously loves and supports his son in straightening his life out, he is not going to take any business or political advice from him. In fact, lobbying, sitting on boards, consulting contracts with PACs, and involvement in partisan think tanks is a lucrative second career for retired or defeated politicians.

So if what Hunter did at Burisma or any other business deals he cooked up are illegal a lot of former politicians in both parties are in trouble. Meanwhile we see Jared Kushner who never should have had security clearance getting a billion dollar bail out on a real estate disaster, including prepaying a 99 year lease, and a two billion dollar investment fund that includes a $25 million management fee the Saudi panel managing all their investments voted against laying low and getting no investigation we are aware of. And of course Trump raking in millions of dollars while president, being banned from involvement in any charity in New York because of misuse of funds, and a $25 million settlement from the Trump University scam. And a decades long history of failed businesses ranging from an airline to mail order steaks and including four massive bankruptcies he managed to drop on other investors.

Just like most people, including a lot of Democrats, believe Hillary issued a stand down order for a rescue attempt in Benghazi despite repeated GOP led hearings and investigations showing she had no authority to issue any orders to the military and any rescue attempt would have been too late and endangered any rescue troops. But we never hear of the four soldiers in Niger who were sent out on a poorly planned, poorly equipped, and unsupported recon mission who were killed and at least one had his body mutilated. This is where Trump included the statement "he knew what he was getting into." Then general John Kelly put his two cents worth in criticizing the Democratic politician accompanying the soldier's widow to a memorial service. And a report coming out months later and quickly buried in the news. But Benghazi still lives on. Like the 13 soldiers killed in an al Qaeda (not Taliban) bombing while evacuating over 100,000 people from Afghanistan. An evacuation everyone condemns but no one has ever come up with a better workable plan than just leaving. Especially when the Taliban controlled almost all of the country other than parts of Kabul and Bagram military base, supported only by the 2,500 US troops Trump left in that country.
