It is immoral that the Federally mandated minimum wage is still $7.25 for non-tipped and less than half that for tipped workers. If the Dems take back the House and keep the Senate it is long past time to bring the minimum wage into line with reality,
A little nugget of truth, a typical single McDonald’s restaurant has almost the same annual revenue as Trump’s Truth Social enterprise. Which has strangely seen a big jump in stock prices since it dropped to a still way overpriced $12 a share and now has a stock value of around $6 billion. I wonder who is propping up that stock and what they expect to gain if Trump is elected. “Remember Donnie, I bought $50 million in Truth Social shares back in October to prop up prices. I expect to see something out of it.”
I heard clips of Las Vegas workers saying that they knew their local economy was bad because they were not making enough and yet there were Help Wanted signs all over. They’re blaming Democrats for “the economy” when they are being stiffed by their employers. Better wages would fix both situations.
I think you may be missing something important here. This is not about, and has never been about, the overall impact on the economy. If it were, then all the objections would have melted away long ago, because the facts simply don't support the argument that raising minimum wage harms the overall economy.
What this has ALWAYS been about is the personal position within the overall society/economic structure that the members of a privileged class occupies. If you wanted the truth about this, you'd need to ask the question "Would you rather be in the 60th percentile of a poor economic US, or in the 48th percentile of a vibrant, wealthy US?"... and you'd need a way to force the responder to tell the truth... You'd find out pretty quickly that a significant percentage of white middle class males would be taking the second choice...
Well, that's all good and well for McDonald's. Anyone know how it's worked out for mom and pop burger joints who serve better food but maybe don't have the financial resources a corporate behemoth like Mickey D's does to absorb such an increase? Just curious.
A rising minimum wage lifts all boats. They may have to pay a bit more for labour, but other minimum wage workers will have more money in their pockets, which means they'll be able to spend more money at Mom&PopBurger.
I've been a wee-SUV driver for 25 yrs now, and at this point only drive about 5-10mi a month in my village. I have to have something that fits a Newfoundland dog or two as well as navigate very safely with ChildX as passenger, and for the first part of that time, was totally navigable for terrible road conditions, as a provider of health.
To be sure, I should think 150s are the most popular because they're mostly a work truck.
I got a dodges at the work place and while our old little two seater is a serviceable vehicle, the others I have driven are shit, and drive like shit. I wish I could scam the ranger off the one forester, cause we don't really need a heavy duty and that little nimble minx is just about perfect for us, but the damn forester won't give it up for the same reason XD
Last car before this year's little Chevy Mommy Wagon was a used little MERCEDES SUV because we couldn't afford a USED Sub. It also had the ultimate airbags in back, so. That's all I cared about.
Edit: Full disclosure, I had to drive a 350 for a spell. It is the terratorch for our fire crew and was the only vehicle during not burn season they could spare for me.
It was VERY big. I was not allowed to use the woo woo lights though
I hate the entire Motivate People To Do Better argument. It is a dumb and bad argument. I know this first hand, because I was hoping work would motivate my spawn into going ya know, crushing debt is not really that high a price to pay for school. But thus far they are more like whoa, money, I can buy things!
Maybe instead of Motivating People To Do Better we should, idk, focus on motivating companies to be better to work for.
I require beans in the chili. That way when I make a chili dog, the beans slip out of the bun and onto the plate or floor, making it a truly authentic chili dog.
I translated an AC/DC song into Middle English and challenged people to identify the original.
Of course, I am a jerk face so I said it was Chaucer's original later translated and recorded by a popular band, which threw some folks off. They got it eventually.
One day I wanted chili lie my favorite, which is made by Wendy's. It's a little spicy but not much (I'm from Indiana and, like our future VP pepper is about as spicy as I like.) So anyway, hamburger, beef stock, diced tomatoes, a diced Vadelia onion, a diced green pepper, some kidney beans and a reasonable amount of chili powder. My wife had been out of town and returned just as the chili was ready. As a result I'm now the official chili maker.
Went over to Micky D's last night and this weird guy was working the window. He stuck his head out as we pulled up and said, "Ronald McDonald has a yuge cock!"
While perusing my mail from yesterday, I glanced at this month's Bon Appetit magazine. They have a tasty seasonal cocktail recipe, called a Newton's Law:
1. Stir 1 tsp. dark brown sugar and 1 tsp hot water in a cocktail shaker until dissolved.
2. Add to the shaker:
1.5 oz. bourbon
0.5 oz. lemon juice
2 tsp homemade or store-bought apple butter
3. Fill shaker with ice and shake till the outside gets frosty (about 20 seconds).
4. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass.
5. Garnish with an orange twist and sprinkle with freshly grated or ground cinnamon.
This is interesting to me because I was involved in this in a very small way by running Rosetta on my computers for several years. Rosetta is a program for predicting the shapes of proteins.

Maybe they should join the union. It’s a pretty big deal in Vegas I heard.

Yes, they all now charge $85 for a berder.
I paid $100.
A rising minimum wage lifts all boats. They may have to pay a bit more for labour, but other minimum wage workers will have more money in their pockets, which means they'll be able to spend more money at Mom&PopBurger.
Most McDonalds are franchises. They don't have any more resources than the mom and pops.
If your business model is based on not paying your employees, you should not be in business.
Your prosperity should NOT be based on someone else's poverty.
Edit: come to think on it, we have a word for people who make their money by not paying people to work for them......

Can you even?? It did last hella long, though.
I'm thinking of the F-250s, F-350s, etc. with the platoon cabs and aircraft carrier length beds.
The ones with the handicap stickers are a real puzzler. If you are that disabled how do you get into one?
Taking up 1.5 parking spaces and sticking out in the aisle, since they HAD to take the brute for a grocery run.
yeah, anyone driving one of those big guys and NOT hauling horses or putting out fires is a poser and should be rightly mocked.
Not even sorry.
It is hilarious to see them try to navigate a drive through though

Hormel makes it easy. They mark their cans "with beans" an "no beans". So the jury is officially forever out!
Another deranged motherfucker.
There ARE beans........ in little boxes, pre-cooked organic kidney, available for lunatics.
You sad, corrupted fool!
Beans are an option. Cheese on chili is more important.
Sigh. I give up.

You're going to have to wait about 4 hours.

They fightin about chili again?

Everyone has their own method. Mine includes Guinness.

Went over to Micky D's last night and this weird guy was working the window. He stuck his head out as we pulled up and said, "Ronald McDonald has a yuge cock!"
